Listen: The Headteacher Who Went To Work For Lego

In the latest Tes Scotland podcast, Ollie Bray, a former secondary head in Scotland who is now the LEGO Foundation’s director of global programmes, talks about his unusual career trajectory.

He also discusses how teachers and other educators have responded to the coronavirus, the essentials of digital learning and how the pandemic might change education.

Mr Bray also explains why he believes that professional learning is more important than ever at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic has unleashed a potentially overwhelming deluge of “superficial” advice aimed at teachers.

He reveals what it is like working at the home of LEGO in Denmark and why play is crucial for learners, whatever their age.

Mr Bray has also been instrumental in a viral scheme to “give Covid the boot” from his old stamping ground in Scotland, where he has been based during lockdown.

After a fascinating career in education - which has also included a time as Scotland’s national adviser for emerging technologies in learning - Mr Bray gives his thoughts on the most important quality in a teacher and why a school should offer the widest array of qualifications possible.
