Scotland’s education secretary is self-isolating but continuing to work as normal from home following a positive coronavirus test at the weekend.
On Sunday education secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville announced the news on Twitter, saying she had lost her sense of smell.
Ms Somerville said: “After losing my sense of smell yesterday, I went for a Covid test, which has come back positive.

“I’ll now self-isolate and continue to work from home. Keep yourself and others safe and please take a test if you have any symptoms.”

Tes Scotland understands that Ms Somerville is fully vaccinated and her diary is unchanged as a result of her positive test.

There has been no impact on other MSPs and ministers, a Scottish government spokesperson said, because Ms Somerville had been working from home.
The spokesperson added: “A very small number of close contacts are following guidance on [Covid] tests and isolation while awaiting their results.”
