The EuroSkills 2018 competition in Budapest got underway yesterday - with Team UK in the running for a medal in 19 skill categories.
There was much to see on Day 1 - and here are some first impressions.
Wall and floor tiling competitor Mark Scott started off his competition with a complicated wall tile design.
Sparks were flying for Scott Kerr, 21, who is Team UK’s welding competitor.
Elliott Dawson competes in CNC milling. His competition kicked off under close scrutiny from the thousands of visitors around the competition venue.
The perfect curve - Christopher Caine is the UK’s joinery competitor.
Precision and an eye for detail - Nicolle Finnie’s cooking competition also kicked off yesterday.
Thomas Lewis, 21, from Maesteg, Bridgend, competes side by side with peers from across Europe in electrical installation.
Getting the green light - Jack Dakin and Danny Slater are the UK’s mechatronics competitors. Both are apprentices with Toyota Manufacturing.
