The two Havering colleges will retain their individual identities and campuses and students will continue to be able to apply to study at those campuses - but, according to the college group, they will also gain greater access to more benefits and bigger choice.
College merger ‘an opportunity to grow’
Gerry McDonald, group principal and chief executive of New City College, said: “I am delighted to welcome our colleagues and students in Havering to the New City College group.
“This merger secures a strong further education profile in the borough for young people and adult students alike, and I look forward to a successful future at Havering Colleges.”
Paul Wakeling, principal of Havering College of Further and Higher Education and Havering Sixth Form College, said: “The Havering colleges are now well-placed to continue to provide academic, professional and technical qualifications that meet the needs and aspirations of our local communities.
“We are all looking forward to working together to provide opportunity for provision in Havering to grow, flourish and succeed.”
