David Watt, executive director of the Institute of Directors (IoD) in Scotland, has been appointed chair of Fife College. He takes over from Stephen Magee, whose tenure ended earlier this month.
Mr Watt announced his intention to leave his IoD post last autumn and is expected to do so next month. Prior to his career in business, he worked as a teacher and lecturer. Announcing his appointment, the government said Mr Watt would bring knowledge of business and commerce as well as governance, to the post.

‘Delighted and honoured’

Colleges are key to our ambitions to widen access to further and higher education and give people of all ages and backgrounds the chance to fulfil their potential. As an ambassador for the college, David will work with the board, staff and students to create an inclusive and responsive college that gives students the education they need and generates a skilled, productive workforce.”
