A bill aimed at bringing down the cost of school uniforms is to be passed into law.
The Education (Guidance about Costs of School Uniforms) Bill was introduced into the House of Commons by Labour MP Mike Amesbury in February 2020.
Now Mr Amesbury has announced that it has “finished its journey through Parliament” and is set to become law tomorrow.

Background: Government backs bill to cut cost of school uniforms
The private members’ bill seeks to keep branded items, such as blazers, to a minimum in order to cut the cost of school uniforms for parents.
Schools minister Nick Gibb previously said the government “wholeheartedly” supported the legislation.
However school uniform suppliers warned last year that it could actually increase inequality.
Mr Amesbury tweeted today: “I’m thrilled - my School Uniforms Bill has now finished its journey through Parliament & will become law tomorrow.
“It will help families across England struggling with uniform costs.
“Huge thanks to Baroness Lister, @childrensociety & everyone else who helped it over the line.”
