Schools across the country have been evacuated after receiving threatening messages.
According to the Mirror, hundreds of schools have received hoax emails claiming a bomb has been placed on schools ground which would be detonated if demands are not met.
This morning, the Metropolitan Police tweeted that it was “investigating reports of communications made to a number of schools across London”.
It said there had been no arrests and “enquiries are ongoing”.
One of the schools that have been affected is Kantor King Solomon High School in Ilford, Essex.
The school tweeted that there was “a national threat made to lots of schools”, which prompted an evacuation. However, the school said it had “established that there is no further threat and school is now running as normal”.
According to the Mirror, the threatening emails originated from the US.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police told the paper: “We have received reports from a large number of schools in our region that they have received threatening emails.
“The emails inform the school that a bomb has been placed on the grounds and will be detonated if they don’t hand over cash.
“Detectives have looked into the emails, which appear to originate from the US, and can confirm there is no viable threat.”
