Teachers’ wellbeing: it’s discussed, it’s analysed, it’s researched and it’s dissected under a microscope. Maybe poor professional mental health is down to the workload crisis, maybe it’s because of budget cuts, or maybe it’s due to the strictures of the accountability regime.
One thing is certain, however - it’s impossible to ignore.
Our teachers deserve more than waking up during the night in a cold sweat, they deserve more than panic attacks in bathroom stalls, and they definitely deserve more than no one doing anything about it.
So that is why, this half-term, we asked you one big question: what wellbeing tips would you give to your colleagues?
The replies from teachers came in their thousands, from the witty and the creative, to the honest and the kind, a perfect representation of a profession that comes together and acts.
Here are 10 of our favourite suggestions - to see the full list, or to get involved with the discussion, search for #SmileUntilChristmas on Twitter.
And, if in doubt, just be more like the Varndean goats…
