A lesson looking at the impacts of globalisation on the UK high street. It could be used as a stand alone or as part of a SOW on globalisation or the UK economy. Could also be adapted to suit different countries if the shop examples were changed.
Lesson starts with an activity which asks students to vote for whether they would shop at a high street shop or an online equivalent for certain items.
It is then revealed that all the high street stores shown have recently closed down or announced partial closures and job losses.
There is a skills task getting students to describe the changing trend of UK internet sales, a card sort looking at positives and negatives of the trend and an evaluation essay question.
Differentiated with extension tasks and sentence starters.
Lesson based on Glocalisation - globalisation of the local
Lesson is focusses on Glocalisation f products and adverstisements. Featuring Ikea, Nike and Mc Donalds. TV Advertisements are imbedded and from McDonalds’ around the world - foci on culture, language and and marketting.
Main task is for students to create their own glocalised McDonalds product.
This resource has used the Edexcel A level geography specification to create a revision booklet that tests students knowledge and understanding of the key content and case studies.
This booklet can be used by students as part of their own independent revision, as it will enable them to have a document which not only tests their topic knowledge but also acts as a base for all the key topic information and exam preparation.
The booklet provides RECAP questions which align with the different enquiry questions for the Globalisation topic. It then provides a case study bank with all the key case studies needed, which the students can bring in their own knowledge and research to complete.
At the end of the booklet there is a bank of example 4-mark and 12-mark questions, which students can create plans and answers for. In this section there are also tips on how to answer and structure these types questions to maximise the marks gained.

Comprehensive examination of the increasingly complex and interdependent world in which we are living.
This is the first of a series of lessons from The Knowledge House that links to Chapter 2 of the new Edexcel specification on Global Politics - The state and globalisation.
This introductory lesson to globalisation introduces students to key terms, developments and factors in the development of the nation-state and in the processes of globalisation.
This is done in an engaging and student-friendly manner, with interactive worksheets and an accompanying PPT that guides both teacher and student through the content.

Worksheet and video activity that includes questions about globalisation. The activity includes a video for students to watch about the factors that affect globalisation, and then are to answer the questions that relate to what was discussed within the video clip.
This is a quick prep activity that could be used to structure a full lesson, as it asks students to go into detail when explaining their answers. After students complete the activity, the answers could be debated with the whole class.
One hour, fully resourced lesson which introduces the concept of globalisation and the positives and negatives of this world development, through the study of economic, cultural and political globalisation.
