<p>A scheme of work for English based on war literature. This scheme of work is ideal for a lower ability Year 9 group and features a variety of activities. Students will study a number of WW1 poems and use different stimulus to help them complete a number of different writing tasks. Activities include making a propaganda poster (persuasive techniques), comparing viewpoints through poetry, language analysis, interview writing, script writing, creative writing, monologue writing and a research project that focuses on student hopes for the future.</p> <p>All resources are included. The only resource teachers will need is a copy of the film War Horse to help with the creative writing lesson. Students watch the trench scene to makes notes based on the five senses.</p> <p>This scheme of work has worked very well with lower ability classes and has been very accessible for boy heavy groups too.</p>

This scheme of work is to be taught alongside the Oxford Playscripts version of Dracula.<br /> This KS3 SOW includes a range of activities that include newspaper writing, contextual research, language analysis, diary writing, poetry, hot seating, creative writing, group work, debates and other creative tasks. The SOW also includes ideas for homework tasks such as creating a vampire survival guide.</p> <p>The powerpoint consists of 81 slides. Each lesson includes reading of the texts with slides that include page numbers and a list of characters for each reading session. Learning objectives, challenge tasks and additional support materials are also included.</p> <p>Please do not be put off by the preview files, the text for some reason hasn’t formatted to the correct size on these. The powerpoint that you downloaded is in the correct format. Please check my free preview lesson as an example.</p> <p>All video clips used are taken from Youtube and are used for educational purposes.</p>
