If you fancy a task that is a little bit different, then look no further than one of Mr Barton Maths rich tasks. This task in particular looks at Pascal's triangle, how it is formed and what patterns students can see within the triangles when they are asked to shade in different multiples. A perfect way to highlight that sequences isn't just sets of numbers.

As always, a great (set of) resource(s).
Powerpoint framework that uses midget gems and cocktail sticks to build sequences of patterns and works towards algebraic notation and nth term. Great for maths discussions. Its a bit 'in development' as it use the midget gems and cocktail sticks - I may simplify to one variable. H&S - cocktail sticks are sharp, wear eye protection and check your chair before you sit. Most midget gems are NOT vegetarian safe, read out the labels to the class.

This resource provides an interesting way of teaching sequences that is designed to be fun, engaging and a little bit different. Students are encouraged to create patterns using Midget Gems and cocktail sticks, and there is a task where students have to build as large a tower as possible using repeated patterns. A nice end of term lesson!

These are excellent resources. Thank you so much.

Describe the term-to-term rules of these then it could be extended to link into nth terms. This is an attempt to show the relationship between the difference and the nth term through comparison and therefore discovery rather than the teacher just saying how it works. I have also thrown in some "famous sequences" that can be discussed.

Love the progression in this worksheet, thank you! Also really useful of you to provide these as a Word document with the answers, as I have been able to tailor to the needs of my class.

I am helping my school develop a new scheme of learning and this fits perfectly with the White Rose SoL. Thank you.

EXCEPTIONAL - Thank-you!
Powerpoint and sheet on using Algebra to solve problems relating to the Fibonacci sequence. The second type of question is very impressive if you get the hang of doing it mentally in front of a class! If you like this resource then please check out my other stuff on here!
EDIT 21/5/13: Added a better 3rd question to the presentation and worksheet, as well as an answer sheet!
EDIT 2/6/13: Corrected the animation order on the starter!Reviews
