Healthy living questionnaire - Es-tu en forme?

(4)
Multiple choice questionnaire about healthy living, with magazine style results section on powerpoint (add up score for each answer and read a short paragraph about what this means). Y8 reading relay - temps libre et sorties

(4)
To revise for a reading assessment towards the end of Expo 2 Module 3 (Les sorties), testing knowledge from Modules 1, 2 and 3. Includes free time activities, perfect tense, modal verbs. Print p.1 on plain paper and give a sheet to each group to highlight key words, etc. Print p.2 on different colours of card and cut into strips (each question on a different strip). Give each group Q1 - when they have written their answer on the strip of card, they bring it to you and you give them Q2. It's a race to finish first (or get the most questions answered within the time limit). My pupils loved this and asked if we could do it again soon.

Expo 3 Module 4 - Les gens comme nous -vert/Rouge

(7)
Powerpoint resources for the 1st 5 lessons on this topic with a pretty good bottom set who will be taking French to GCSE. Focus on revising/consolidating vocabulary from previous years (introducing yourself, physical description) but also using the imperfect tense just in the 'je' form. Aimed at a largely 'Vert' class but some crossover with 'Rouge' due to inclusion of imperfect.
Personality adjectives - Y7

Personality adjectives - Y7

(1)
Lesson to introduce personality adjectives with Y7 (they've already done loads of work on agreements for colours and physical description, so not that much time spent on it here). Goes with Expo 1 and does refer to reading and listening activities from it, but hopefully some of the slides will be useful even if you don&'t use this textbook.

3 different tasks so includes extension work for more able. Texts about what people eat for lunch and why, focusing on reasons for eating at canteen/sandwiches/home - can link in with cultural aspects about school meals in France. Task 1 - very basic, vocab recognition. Task 2 - comprehension. Task 3 - identifying reasons/arguments for and against.

Reading task - where you live and are from

(1)
A reading task I made for a Y9 bottom set beginners Spanish group who have been learning Spanish for about 10 weeks so far. The main aim is to recognise the difference between 'soy de' and 'vivo en' with place names, but there's plenty of added detail to make it a bit more challenging. I&'ve made the font size big so it can be copied 2:1, giving A5 sheets.

Healthy eating - reasons/frequency of food groups

(1)
Card sort and grid for recording information. Pupils each have a grid, and have a set of cards in groups of 2-3. They match the reasons (bullet-pointed cards) and frequency with which the food should be eaten to the foods in the grid and record the information. Links in with knowledge of food groups/healthy living from science or food tech.
Year 9 / Year 8 reading tasks - 2 or 3 tenses

Year 9 / Year 8 reading tasks - 2 or 3 tenses

(1)
Reading tasks with grid to complete - the one in 2 tenses was aimed at a bottom set Y9 class and the one in 3 tenses was aimed at a middle/high set. But I'm planning to use the 2 tense one with Year 8s too. More or less the same task, so could be given out in the same class for differentiation.
Tomboy (film) resources

Tomboy (film) resources

(1)
Resources to accompany the film "Tomboy" (2011) for able Y9 pupils. Main focus is describing characters in 3rd person but some general reading comprehension (true or false about the story) and work on how characters feel, plus predictions for what will/should happen next. Lots of opportunities for discussion in English - SMSC. 19/04/15 - Added final 2 lessons (1 matching quotations to characters, watching and discussing ending, 1 writing a comparison of 2 main characters).
