Arctic Themed Drama Lesson Plan for Year 4-6

Arctic and climate change drama lesson plan linking geography with performing arts to teach year 4, 5 and 6 children about this topic through movement and discussion. The objective is for children to learn about the Arctic and climate change in a hands on and age appropriate way. Whilst they are visualizing and acting out certain scenarios, they will gain a clearer understanding of what the environment is like, which will enhance the discussion and presentation time at the end. From a drama perspective they will be incorporating team work, communication, mime, role play, and public speaking which should also help them to retain this important geographical information. Activities included are a warm up, imaginative thinking and acting out, role playing scenarios and discussion time with a small group presentation.

Arctic themed drama and Geography lesson plan for children in reception and year one. Exploring the arctic through the medium of drama using movement and discussion in a bid to educate the children on climate change and teach them a little Geography in a hands on and creative way that they will remember. Arctic themed drama lesson for children in year 2 with Geography links. This workshop comprises both drama and Geography as children learn about climate change in an innovative and creative way which will help them remember. The main objections are for children to learn about the Arctic and climate change in a hands on and age appropriate way. Whilst they are visualizing and acting out certain scenarios they will gain a clearer understanding of what the environment is like which will enhance the discussion and presentation time at the end. From a drama perspective they will be incorporating team work, communication, mime, role play, and public speaking. The session starts with a warm up and includes imaginative thinking and role play activity, miming and freeze frames and a time for discussion with teachers and peers.
