A series of cards with key names and note positions. How to use your cards: Place all the cards face down and take it in turns to turn over two cards at a time. If you find a matching pair, you keep that pair. The player with the most pairs at the end is the winner. Divide the cards into two piles and play snap, identifying snaps for the same key name, the same key or the key name with the correct key. Use the cards with the keyboard. Place a pile of the cards face down beside the keyboard. Turn over the cards one at a time. If you turn over a key name, play all the keys on the keyboard that have that note name. If you turn over a keyboard card, name the note and then play every key on the keyboard that have that note name.

This game can be played in a group or used in one to one teaching. The pack contains a treble clef card, bar lines, three time signature options and colour co-ordinated note name cards. Give each child a different pitched boom whaker. Lay out your treble clef and choose which time signature you want to use. Choose how you plan to compose your piece. Either allow a student to choose the note cards and the order that they wish to lay them, or shuffle the cards and randomly lay them out. Make sure to put your bar lines in after the correct number of note cards. The group can then play their composition using their boom whakers. This exercise encourages and empowers students in composition and grows students understanding of group and collective music making only playing when it is your turn to play.

The Ghost Conductor has lost his voice and needs the help of an Interpreter to teach his choir the new song. Suitable for groups or one to one lessons, choose between the role of Ghost Conductor or Interpreter. In the group setting you also have the role of Ghost Choir. The Ghost Conductor Signs a small sequence of notes, or lays out a sequence using the Solfege Cards provided. The Interpreter then interprets the signs or reads the cards and sings the phrase or sequence to the Ghost Choir. In a group setting those playing the Ghost Choir then sing it back in their best Ghostly voices. The learner then writes the words on the cards, one word per card. The act of writing out the words one at a time helps the learner to engage with the words in a physical way. Continue to remove a few cards at a time, checking to see if you can remember all the words before you remove some more, until there are no cards left. Use the cards to help you understand your prompt words. Prompt words are those words that prompt you to remember a whole line. You might have three of four prompt words in a verse of a song. They might be the first word of each line or they might not. Once you have established which are your prompt words, lay out only those cards and practice reciting the words. Use your cards to help you see structure and repetition in the song words, count how many times a word or a phrase is repeated. Use your lyric cards to remove you from the music and focus only on the story of the song. Lay out your cards and practice reciting your words as a poem. If we really understand what it is we are saying we will more accurately express the meaning of the song. Use your lyric cards to help you find the natural accents of the words of the song. Lay out your cards and recite the words of the song. Where do the natural stresses of the words fall. Imagine you are reciting them as a poem aloud. This can be particularly useful for music from the Baroque era. But it can be useful for music of any era.
