Socratic (or Harkness) lesson structures can be an incredibly powerful tool for allowing students to develop their understanding and independence,When used effectively, it can be an incredibly useful tool for: -Checking student understanding of a topic, idea, or text. -Encouraging students to develop their ZPD and metacognitive skills. -Allowing students to develop their speaking and listening skills and their powers of debate. This guide is in the context of English, but can be adapted for any subject.

This resource is to guide students on how to create One Pager responses to poetry texts. This can be used as a revision activity, to check a student’s understanding of the poem, or simply for fun! The resource includes a teacher guidance sheet, student instructions, and a page with some examples of completed One Pager tasks. I have used this for students in KS3, KS4 and KS4.
