One of the many activities which forms part of the Sing2Write resource pack this is a free worksheet with original artwork borders and illustration. Full colour PDF or print in black and white.
See the linked Seagull song available on Youtube to inspire your little learners.
I never get bored of telling this story to children, I just love the way they enjoy the naughty seagulls stealing his lunch. It's also one of my favourite displays to create with blues of the sea and contrast of the Lighthouse. There's so many literacy opportunities- speech bubbles, instructional writing, descriptive writing, the list goes on... The video was created for our Spanish students to give them an opportunity to listen to English over the summer holidays, however it can also be used as a starter for your class to create their own 'surprise' sandwich...
My favourite food worksheet included.
Jammed packed full of activities and fun resource sheets, this pack includes a whole unit of work containing planning and original, creative resources to support and inspire young writers aged 5-7 years.
Inspired by Francesca Simon´s amazing character Horrid Henry and Pie Corbett´s Talk 4 Writing techniques this unit of work includes an original portal story- Horrid Henry at the Zoo- and unique resources to accompany the text.
Includes 14 lessons that can be used and adapted over a 2 or 3 week period depending on the needs of your class. The portal story helps develop narrative storytelling and the pack includes opportunities to write non-fiction diaries and simple recounts. POWERPOINT, WORD and GOOGLE drive formats.
The activities are designed to be completed over several weeks but please adapt the time length to suit the needs of your class. I teach Spanish children so we sometimes take longer to complete one activity.

8 stages of writing progress that tracks written skills in fiction, including phonics, vocabulary, grammar, composition, handwriting and punctuation. It can be used to track progress for children learning English as a foreign language or with some small adjustments for all pupils in KS1. A bank of skills which can also be used as targets for the next steps in their learning. Written after the end of National Curriculum levels to form part of our new progress and assessment in school.
We decided to focus on tracking fiction as non-fiction wasn’t able to reflect the range of skills we felt we needed to track.
If you would like the second part of this progression tracker you can find the KS2 development over on TES shop ClassGems.
Inspired by Pie Corbett’s initiative and one of his recommended texts, this resource has over 30 slides.
Story maps, worksheets, planning for 10 activities and display ideas all included. Original activities that include creating your own missing persons (meerkat) report, your very own travel identity card and much more. Planning which can be used over 2 or 3 weeks depending on the needs of your class. The portal helps develop a story recount and the pack includes opportunities to write non-fiction reports and letters. POWERPOINT, WORD and KEYNOTE formats.

Are you looking for a fun way to motivate and help children learn new vocabulary regardless of your musical background? The songs and activities are inspired by a rich variety of texts within the school curriculum, with the goal to motivate all teachers and children, regardless of their musical knowledge, to sing along to the simple songs. The songs are designed to be easy to learn and help develop confidence and knowledge of new vocabulary. Watch on Classberry youtube channel.
