This Year 1 science resource gets children out into the local environment to discover all about trees. After a simple recap about deciduous and evergreen trees, children will explore their local environment, go hunting for deciduous and evergreen trees, tally their findings and answer simple questions about their findings. Challenge 1 and 1a encourages children to explore their local environment in the hope of finding deciduous trees, before tallying the findings and answering questions. Challenge 2 and 2a encourages children to explore their local environment in the hope of finding evergreen trees, before tallying the findings and answering questions. Challenge 3 is an extension of Challenges 1 and 2, encouraging them to draw and label trees that may be less familiar to them.
