David Matthew Baker's Primary Shop

Average Rating4.34
(based on 59 reviews)

I'm currently training as a Primary Teacher so making a wide range of resources using a variety of programmes including ActivInspire and Smart Notebook. My shop also has some of my past resources that I made during my time as a Special Needs Support Assistant. I am also a Cub Scout Leader and have provided some of the resources I have made for this role where I feel that may be of use to others.

A question sheet on space with answer cards

This was made as a resource for a District Cub camp but some of you may find it useful. Each of the cards contain a little information about planets and other bodies in space. Whilst the 'Space Fact Finding' sheet has space to record some of the things that they learn whilst searching for the cards. As it was designed to be used on a National Scout campsite at night I also wanted them to look out for orienteering markers as the cards were quite space out. They followed glow sticks to find the cards.

Next Steps Design & Technology Template

A sheet to help students understand where they should be trying to go next in terms of their learning to help them make progress with regards to p-levels or National Curriculum levels. I've left in some of the targets we set students this term (autumn 2013) but have removed their names from the sheet. You should easily be able to modify them for your own use.

Birthdays List and Class Door Sign

A Birthdays List and Class Door Sign that I made for use in our Special Need's School. The basic template I made may save you making one from scratch. If I find any other versions that I&'ve designed I&';ll edit this post and add them to it.

Behaviour Levels (Raise Responsibility System)

(0)
A poster I made for the Cubs to try and encourage them to think about how they are acting - the idea being that this would help them to control their own behaviour. The poster is based on Marvin Marshall's Raise Responsibility System.

A sheet showing young people the different flag positions for the alphabet / numbers in semaphore. This could be used to examine communication and how it only works if both people are paying attention and understand what you are saying.

Secondary-Inter Cardinal Compass Points

(0)
A set of pages designed to be printed out at A4 and put up around a room. Contains Cardinal Points (N, E, S, W) down to Secondary Intercardinal Points (NNE, ENE, etc...) Can then be used to help students know which way to run when playing the North East South West game (where they have to run to the right place) and similar games. Also includes the bearings to allow a bit of variation. Was originally produced for use in our Scout Hut with Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Hobbit / LOTR Comprehension & Descriptive Tasks

Here are two sheets I made when I had an English tutor (last time I applied for Primary Teacher Training). Both are themed around the Hobbit (or Lord of the Rings). In one you are given some text and asked to draw or construct a picture of a Hobbit based on that text. The other gives you a picture of Gandalf and asks you to write a description of the Istari (Gandalf) who is shown in the picture. I've never tried these with children so would be interested to hear how they go down with them if you do try them out.
Types of Joint

Types of Joint

(0)
A very simplistic worksheet that was used to hit one of the outcomes of an entry level qualification. It simply shows 3 joints and gives the advantages of each joint then asks the students which of the 3 joints they are going to use. (Mitre; Half Lap and Finger Joints)

Ugali Recipe (East African Staple Food)

(0)
A recipe card for Ugali. This is the Staple Food through much of East Africa including Kenya. I've made it for my Cubs on a few occasions. It is quite bland and should really be eaten with some fried greens, typically something like kale or cabbage.

If you are from outside the North East you may wish to modify one quiz slide and two teaching slides.

The Stages involved in creating a Product

The Stages involved in creating a Product

(0)
A sheet that requires students to correctly sequence four of the stages involved in making a product. (Design, Marking Out, Cutting (etc...) and Assembly) They also have to fill in additional details about each of these stages. In this case the product shown in production is a bird house though the stages are the same for any hands on DT that doesn't require specialist equipment.
