An engaging, animated power point presentation which clearly demonstrates the step by step process of Ordering Fractions. Essential mathematical vocabulary is revised including: equivalent fractions, common multiple, common denominator, numerator and denominator. Children are given opportunities to practice skills and explain their reasoning through short tasks and talk partner activities.
The accompanying worksheet allows children to choose practice questions according to their confidence. There are also word problems and extension tasks for the most confident to tackle.
Children are encouraged to evaluate their understanding and make suggestions for further competence with ordering fractions.

Direct and Reported Speech & Verb Tenses
This powerpoint revises the rules for changing direct speech to reported speech and vice versa. The focus is on what changes i.e. inverted commas, pronouns and verb tenses.
This is ideal for introducing the names of different verb tenses to Years 5 and 6 and gives the opportunity for pupils to practice changing speech from direct to reported as well as identifying the verb tenses.
Some of the example sentences are based on the book 'Street Child' and the resource was created as part of a unit writing a newspaper report. However - it can be used as a stand alone lesson.
Y6 REVISION - Number and Place Value
An engaging presentation which revises key objectives of number and place value including:
… read, write, order and compare whole numbers (up to 10 000 000) and decimals
… determine the value of each digit in whole numbers and decimals
There is also a quick activity to practice multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals by 10, 100 and 1000.
Throughout the presentation, each concept is explored with examples. Opportunities for children to discuss concepts and practice examples are built in to each slide and answers are provided.
A work sheet covering each aspect of the above is included which can be used as an assessment task.
Your comments are always appreciated so please review this resource.
Written Calculation Methods
This resource is an animated demonstration of extended written methods of calculation which aim to give children a secure understanding of how calculations work before progressing to standard short written methods. The slides demonstrate each calculation as a clear, step by step process. The presentation can be used to teach or revise written methods in each operation and can also be printed as posters for class reference.
Shape - Translation
This resource introduces translation of shape clearly and simply. It can be used to demonstrate translation by moving shapes on a grid and children then have the opportunity to give original and new co-ordinates. Key shape vocabulary is reinforced: vertices, congruent, co-ordinates, position, translate/translation.
The worksheet that accompanies this resource can be found on the final slide and used to address any misconceptions through discussion as a plenary. A PDF of the resource is included.
