Fracking and the environment A detailed, differentiated and editable 1-2 hour lesson all about fracking and the government’s decision to lift, and then immediately reimpose a ban that had been in place since 2019. In this lesson, the students will learn how oil and gas are extracted from the Earth using both traditional mining and in the case of shale gas, fracking. We will investigate the reasons why fracking is a highly controversial tropic and discuss arguments for and against it. The lesson is ideally suited to students in UKS2 (Year 6) or younger students in KS3 (Year 7). The resources are fully editable, and therefore easy to amend should you wish to use it with other year groups. For the Gatsby Benchmark Careers Guidelines. 1 hour fully resourced careers lesson focusing on how the extra curricular activities students have completed and their personal qualities can be used to create fantastic personal statements. Equally, this could be used to help with university applications. The lesson sees students complete a personality and skills audit, team group activities, individual tasks, clip tasks, create example paragraphs for a personal statement and and is perfect for a PSHE / Citizenship careers unit. This resource pack includes a one hour long PowerPoint with accompanying worksheets, well differentiated activities, literacy focus tasks, clip tasks with three-way differentiated questions and information sheets. A lesson on the origins of Christmas and how it has evolved from the Pagan Yuletide to the Christian Christmas we know today. Students will investigate how the media uses extreme headlines for monetary gain and how, in the process, this helps divide the public further when it comes to political and social views.
