A differentiated task for students to collect information on Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights groups. The aim is to see the importance the role each group played in achieving Civil Rights.
A fun task which can be used to collect important information prior to a literacy based task.
Colonialism + Slavery to Civil Rights : 15 lessons - 16 hours (two will last two hours) following the complete story of discovery of the New World and start of the slave trade, right through to abolition, the KKK, Jim Crow, the complete Civil Rights fight and Martin Luther King to Barack Obama. There is easily enough material for a whole term.
The unit was originally taught to Year 8, but has had extra challenges added to suit it to Year 9 over the last year too. Every lesson is differentiated to at least three levels of challenge, has source analysis tasks, peer or mini-assessments, clip tasks with differentiated questioning, essay or literacy focus tasks for GCSE skills prep. This is inclusive of all the standards you’d expect - starters, plenaries, measurable LOs, well presented Powerpoints and easy to follow worksheets with instructions.
2x detailed and well differentiated editable history lessons all about the Hundred Years War, from English prowess and military victory in the first few decades to the crashing defeat by the French (joined by Joan of Arc) towards the end. The lessons cover all the most significant battles and turning points before inviting students to study sources in order to come to their own conclusions about if a French victory was always inevitable.
These lessons both last one hour and are very easy to just pick up and use. They are suitable for any KS3 class - or KS4 needing a refresher or overall introduction.
Each lesson includes an hour-long PowerPoint, a variety of activities, source questions and source pack, clip tasks, exam-styles practice questions, chronology and content focus tasks and more.

DOUBLE LESSON - A detailed and well-differentiated, editable history lesson all about how William the Conqueror consolidated his power. The lesson focuses in detail on castles, the feudal system, bringing allies from Normandy and the Domesday Book.
This lesson lasts around 2 hours and is very easy to just pick up and use. This is suitable for any KS3 class (and could be used for KS4 - it’s full of exam-style source questions).

Black History Month Quiz: A fun quiz, perfect for form time on current and past black icons and history. Easy to use, just opens in powerpoint and all you need to do is click on the answers, which are revealed to be correct or incorrect. Lasts around 20 minutes.

A one hour lessons all about civilian life in Britain during WWI. This has been created for the OCR GCSE History A - War and Society and covers he theme ‘Impact of War on People’ and the ‘Beginnings of Total War’. However, it is editable and could be tweaked for any exam board covering the same theme.
