A brief guide on how to use a sentence builder for those who aren’t familiar with this fantastic tool that has been championed by MFL pedagogy legends such as Gianfranco Conti, Steve Smith and Dylan Vinales - I do not take credit for these ideas, I am simply organising them into a concise list of my personal favourite activities to accompany some of the sentence builders that I upload to my shop.
5 pages of activities for pupils to complete to acquire key language on the topic of daily routine in French / ma routine, including:
Large vocab bank of key verbs and time phrases at the start
Reading, listening, translation tasks and quiz quiz trade game
Independent writing task
Complex structures notes and translations to incorporate them
Could be used over 1-2 lessons depending on how much is used.
A big quiz of 30 questions on the Spanish-speaking world - can be used for beginners, done aurally in class or as a research task. Answers are included in the document. Great for starting off beginners in Spanish to get them interested in Hispanic world, or as an end-of-term fun activity!
Selection of worksheets and activities for learning how to introduce oneself and give other details such as where you are from, birthday, language you speak, age and where you live. Including:

An aural sentence puzzle followed by a vocab activity to introduce reflexive verbs for describing relationships with family members / les relations familiales / se fâcher contre / se disputer avec / s’entendre bien avec / les verbes pronominaux
A reading comprehension with various exercises to consolidate the vocabulary on the topic. For KS4 topic of health / healthy lifestyles. Activities include find the vocab in the text, gap-fill, French questions, vocab-list and translation.
A selection of resources including a sentence builder on the advantages of doing an internship to answer the question ‘Pourquoi est-il important de faire un stage ?’ a list of vocab to paste into Quizlet/Textivate, a ‘gap fill no gaps’ listening activity with transcript for teacher to read and a ‘1 pen 1 dice’ translation activity.

Intended for the study of films in Spanish, this handout provides introductory steps to analysing film, and a comprehensive glossary of vocabulary in English and Spanish with detailed explanations and examples. The examples relate to the Almodovar film, Volver, but the principles can be applied to any film. It is roughly aimed at students studying for A-Level, Pre-U or IB (aged 16+). Whilst this resource is designed to provide information, you can also create activities from it, for example, by mixing up the Spanish and English words to match up, or match words to definitions. Or, you could assign different students certain terms and ask them to produce a short analysis of these aspects in one key scene to present to the class.

Resources on mi tiempo libre / mis pasatiempos including regular verbs, sports and activities vocab, time phrases and connectives. Resources are mostly worksheets with different activities, often listening, matching, writing and translation.
Worksheet introduce and extensively practise vocab to do with daily routines and school. The aim is for pupils to learn all this language, including the verbs as vocabulary, BEFORE you go on to unpack the grammar of reflexive verbs and practise the conjugations. This helps avoid cognitive overload (which often happens when trying to teach grammar rules and meaning at the same time) Answers included, of course.
