Lots of example texts, sentence starters, model responses and lessons to practise annotating extracts, analysing, focusing on the mark scheme and developing interpretations.

A Christmas themed lesson that could suit either KS3-4. Pupils will be asked to focus on a new brand of advent calendar, like the many toy alternatives that are out there now compared with the traditional chocolate one. Pupils could work in groups or pairs but will watch adverts to consider slogans, logos, products etc from a range of famous brands. They will then spend time working on adverts, slogans, product name and look. Pupils will move on to analysing persuasive speeches- watching good and bad examples before creating their own. There is a modelled example that they will analyse before creating (this could be tailored to trasactional writing for GCSE if required). Pupils will then have time to present all of their information to vote for winners at the end.

A range of character examples given and sentences starters used including a modelled example for students to build on. Suitable for GCSE Paper 1 creative writing or as a KS3 guide on how to make character descriptions perfect from the first go!

20 full hour lessons on King Lear, suitable as an introduction to Shakespeare at KS3 or for a more developed analysis at KS4. Focused on character development, language analysis, key themes and plot development with a range of interactive tasks and activities.

Two full hour lessons focusing on the skills needed when writing to argue; devices needed, structural techniques, skills and key advice for the GCSE. Suitable for KS3 and KS4.

11 lessons focusing on creative writing; using images as stimulus, engaging texts and developing literacy and grammatical features for effect.

Full SOL focusing on 12 lessons (could be extended to more) focusing on transactional writing and all elements needed to write a report, letter, article, speech etc. Lots of links to Youtube clips and debates to develop understanding further as well as key speeches and ideas to build cultural capital to develop their responses!
