A Christmas themed lesson that could suit either KS3-4. Pupils will be asked to focus on a new brand of advent calendar, like the many toy alternatives that are out there now compared with the traditional chocolate one. Pupils could work in groups or pairs but will watch adverts to consider slogans, logos, products etc from a range of famous brands. They will then spend time working on adverts, slogans, product name and look.
Pupils will move on to analysing persuasive speeches- watching good and bad examples before creating their own. There is a modelled example that they will analyse before creating (this could be tailored to trasactional writing for GCSE if required).
Pupils will then have time to present all of their information to vote for winners at the end.
