This KS2 or Early KS3 beginners French vocabulary revision / review activity is a giant crossword puzzle, ideal for fun group work. Includes Numbers (Les Nombres / Les Numeros), Calendar (Days, Months, Dates - Les Jours, Les Mois, La Date), Greetings and Introductions, Colours (Les Couleurs), Weather (La Meteo / Le Temps), Classroom Objects (Les Objets de la Classe) and more. With around 100 clues, it is ideal for groups, with children perhaps competing against other groups to solve the puzzle as fast as possible. It works well as a fun revision activity at the start of term / back to school time to refresh students' French basics vocabulary or at the end of a term / end of the year.
Alternatively, use it as an early finisher activity for completion over several lessons / weeks. In addition to the crossword solution, there's an alphabetical list of answers which you can give out for support where necessary. Or any clues not managed could be looked up online or in a French dictionary. It's fine in A4 but if you are using it with a larger group you might want to print in A3. The crossword grid and solution are included in one PDF, with the clues and support sheet in the second one.

LOOP GAMES / “I HAVE…WHO HAS…?”
The six 10-card loop games are coloured differently. If printing in black and white use different coloured card to help keep them separate. Designed for oral practice in small groups, with a student reading out the English word or phrase on their card and others checking if they have the German translation, then reading this out - and so on until the loop is completed.
JIGSAW PUZZLE
A 16-piece triangle puzzle. Print, laminate, and cut. Students must arrange the puzzle pieces so that English vocabulary is placed beside the matching German translations on other pieces, forming a large triangle.
ACTIVE CARD GAME
A fun game to get students moving around the classroom, speaking German to each other. 18 identical pairs of cards form a complete 36-card set. Print and laminate the cards. Students circulate, asking and answering questions in German about name, age, and where they live, in whatever order they wish. Students’ responses should be based on the information on their card. Without looking at each other’s card, students try to find the player whose card matches their own.
To make the small number of locations printed on the cards more relevant to students, I have included 3 versions: Canada / US, UK, Australia / NZ. All versions include some German locations.
VOCABULARY SUPPORT CARD
Use this to support certain students, groups or classes to play the games.
For KS2 and KS3, this is a pack of 3 fun printable activities, consolidating vocabulary from both French Classroom Objects (Les Objets de la Classe) and School (Mon Ecole / À l’école) topics.
