German Greetings and Introductions Games

(0)
German Greetings and Introductions unit printable games for speaking and reading practice: loop games, a jigsaw puzzle, and an active card game to review basic greetings (Die Begrüßungen auf Deutsch), goodbyes and introducing yourself in German. These activities review vocabulary such as Guten Tag (Hello), Guten Abend (Good evening), Auf Wiedersehen (Goodbye) and Bis später (See you later). Students will also practise asking and answering questions such as Wie geht’s? (How are you?), Wie heißt du? (What’s your name?), Wie alt bist du? (How old are you?), and Wo wohnst du? (Where do you live?). The games are in PDF format. My German basics resources are made for students beginning German and near beginners in KS2 or early KS3 (Years 5, 6 and 7) and equivalents but may suit others, depending on experience. SAVE by purchasing this as part of my German Greetings and Introductions BUNDLE, along with these further 4 resource packs: German Greetings and Introductions Presentation and Activities German Greetings Worksheets German Greetings Board Game German Greetings Role-Play Cards LOOP GAMES / “I HAVE…WHO HAS…?” The six 10-card loop games are coloured differently. If printing in black and white use different coloured card to help keep them separate. Designed for oral practice in small groups, with a student reading out the English word or phrase on their card and others checking if they have the German translation, then reading this out - and so on until the loop is completed. JIGSAW PUZZLE A 16-piece triangle puzzle. Print, laminate, and cut. Students must arrange the puzzle pieces so that English vocabulary is placed beside the matching German translations on other pieces, forming a large triangle. ACTIVE CARD GAME A fun game to get students moving around the classroom, speaking German to each other. 18 identical pairs of cards form a complete 36-card set. Print and laminate the cards. Students circulate, asking and answering questions in German about name, age, and where they live, in whatever order they wish. Students’ responses should be based on the information on their card. Without looking at each other’s card, students try to find the player whose card matches their own. To make the small number of locations printed on the cards more relevant to students, I have included 3 versions: Canada / US, UK, Australia / NZ. All versions include some German locations. VOCABULARY SUPPORT CARD Use this to support certain students, groups or classes to play the games.

For KS2 and KS3, this is a pack of 3 fun printable activities, consolidating vocabulary from both French Classroom Objects (Les Objets de la Classe) and School (Mon Ecole / À l’école) topics. Lessons for these units can be taught and consolidated with my presentations, worksheets and puzzles, games and more – all available in my French Classroom and School Vocabulary BIG BUNDLE, which contains this pack of games, alongside 6 other packs. However, for a small review of these units, you may only want these games. All are in PDF within a Zip file. My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 (and equivalents in other countries) but might suit others, depending on experience. Due to differences between UK and US terms for some of these words, I have included 2 versions to cater for both. Please note the previews show the UK versions. To explore related resources, which are also in the BIG BUNDLE mentioned above, click on the links: French Classroom Objects Presentation French Classroom Objects Worksheets and Puzzles French Classroom Objects Games French Classroom Objects BUNDLE French School Vocabulary Presentation French School Vocabulary Worksheets and Puzzles French School Vocabulary Games French School Vocabulary BUNDLE IN THIS 19-PAGE PDF FILE: HEXAGON JIGSAW A 24-piece puzzle. Place triangle pieces to form a large hexagon, by matching images with French words. Print and laminate for repeated use. Versions included with and without background. Answer key supplied. There’s an additional hidden word challenge. SERPENTS ET ECHELLES A board game to print and laminate. Play like traditional snakes and ladders but students translate vocabulary to stay on the spot where they landed. Answer key provided. SCHOOL PLAN DRAWING GAME A flexible speaking game for pairs, groups, or whole class. Students listen to sentences describing the location of school items and draw quick sketches on their blank plan in the correct locations. Blank plans could be printed on paper for one-off use but perhaps use card and laminate if being used again (students draw with dry-wipe pens). Completed plans and sentences are provided for 4 rounds. You could set up mixed ability groups, with several students completing 1 plan. VOCABULARY SUPPORT PAGES One each for Classroom Objects and General School Vocabulary. A one page combined version is included too. TEACHER NOTES are included in the file. Fun upper KS2 Mental Maths write and wipe self-check cards (and Year 7 too) for starter activities / warm ups, early finishers challenges, revision tasks, SATs preparation etc. There are 36 football themed spiral trails, designed to be printed and laminated and completed with dry-wipe pens. Calculations include: all four operations, negative numbers, fractions of quantities / amounts, decimals and percentages (including percentage increase and decrease). PDF format. Full answer versions included. Please check the preview to assess suitability.   SAVE as part of Maths and Literacy Meaningful Fillers BUNDLE   Each trail contains 10 calculations, which can mostly be calculated mentally. Starting at the calculation to the right of the football, students write the answer to each calculation in the box, then use the answer in the next calculation, creating a running total as they follow the spiral The spiral ends at the goal in the middle, where the answer to the final calculation is printed. Students can then see if they have completed the trail correctly. If not, they can check where they have gone wrong Suits individuals, pairs or small groups You could use it as a whole class starter, with students swapping after completion You might want to print cards back to back with others to save on card and laminating If required, print answer versions to use if students are struggling to spot where they’ve gone wrong. Area Game KS2

KS2 area maths bingo / lotto activities for revision of finding area of squares, rectangles and right-angled triangles: 10 game boards and 60 cards are included in this differentiated pack, originally designed for an upper Key Stage 2 class (Year 5 and Year 6 - Y5 / Y6). There are 5 boards and 30 cards in two sets. ALL ANSWERS AND INSTRUCTION PAGE INCLUDED. Each child or pair has a board with 6 area answers on it. The cards feature 2D shapes with lengths and breadths marked on, which the children use to work out the area. Children have a board each or per pair. I recommend having one area shape card turned over at a time and all players working out if it matches the area answer on their board. Could be used as a fun starter, revision, early finisher activity etc. BLACK AND WHITE versions of the cards also included. PDF format. In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7. Differentiation: The one-star version has more simple calculations to work out in centimetres. The two-star version has more challenging calculations and includes some conversion between centimetres and metres. Calculations can be done mentally or with a little working out on a mini whiteboard or scrap of paper. Answer cards are included for pupil self-checking or to help teachers assess. The cards can also be used separately from the bingo game, with individuals or pairs working out the area and checking. They could perhaps time themselves to see how many they can correctly answer in 5 or 10 minutes. Or small groups could compete against each other to get the answer first, scoring a point if they manage it. If you don’t need to use both versions of the bingo / lotto game at the same time, I recommend printing the boards back to back to save on card and laminating pouches. If using both sets of cards, I suggest printing them on different coloured card to help keep them separate. For MFL / FSL, KS3, KS4 or even adult language learners, this giant French Adjectives vocabulary crossword puzzle, is great for cover lessons, starters or early finishers activities or as an extension challenge activity after a focus on Les Adjectifs. Use this huge puzzle to revise and extend vocabulary. There are 116 words in the puzzle, all singular adjectives and a mixture of masculine and feminine spellings. PDF format - 16 pages. You could return to it over several sessions. This is low prep, great for collaboration, printable, differentiated, has an answer key, and there’s even an optional hidden sentence challenge! Best not used with absolute beginners, as it’s designed to review AND expand students’ existing vocabulary, to provide a challenge. Depending on experience and ability of students and level of support given, this can work with Key Stage 3 and 4 and beyond. Please click on the preview file to check suitability for your students. Fun: Giant crosswords are enjoyable to complete. Low prep: Great for sub lessons and busy times. Flexible: Can fill a whole lesson or more, or be completed over multiple days. Early finishers: Great as an early finisher activity or extension, maybe to be competed over several sessions. Collaboration: Although it can be used for individuals, it’s especially good for pairs or small groups. Differentiation: Alternative clue page & vocab support page. Challenge: Fun hidden sentence extension!   HOW TO DIFFERENTIATE THIS ACTIVITY: There are 2 versions of the clue sheets – one with just the word itself in English (to be translated into French) and an easier version with the first letter given. Choose whether to provide the alphabetical answer list, perhaps just to support certain students, or distribute it only when students have done as much as they can independently Consider using mixed-ability groups Decide whether to allow access to online or traditional dictionaries, perhaps later when students have completed as much as they can independently Consider whether to use the hidden sentence challenge version (students use a blank grid with stars printed on certain squares, and then put the letters together from the star boxes to spell out a hidden word). There are 2 versions of the recording sheet for this challenge, should you wish to use them, and separate answer keys Early finishers could be directed to online sources to check out the pronunciation of unfamiliar words Whatever you choose, I hope your students have as much fun completing it as I did compiling it! You might want to expand the crossword if using with larger groups but if you can’t, it will still work in standard size. YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE: French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 1

There’s a set with English instructions and a set with French instructions, which you might want to use for older, more able or more experienced students. Two of the cards feature vocabulary that is different in Canada, therefore these two are repeated in a Canadian version at the end of the file. Consider laminating cards if you wish to use again. If playing Scoot, place or stick the cards on desks so that all students can answer one at a time. Give students a 1-page or 2-page blank answer grid. Consider mixed ability pairs and / or supplying the Christmas vocabulary support sheet for differentiation. Set a timer so that students have 30 seconds to sit and answer a card before scooting to the next one. All students move at the same time when the allotted time is done. You can call “Scoot!” or perhaps “Allez!” each time. Ensure you explain to students in which direction they should move. When students have answered all cards, mark together. An answer key is included. Even if you don’t have 40 students, you can still use all cards if you have a big enough space to arrange them. However, if you only want the same number of cards as you have students, you can remove some of the later cards. It’s also possible to remove cards you feel might be too hard for your students. Substitute cards you don’t wish to use with the included Pause Cards, numbering them appropriately and thus allowing students to take intermittent short brain breaks.   MEGABUNDLES: French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 1 French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 2

If your printer can print double-sided you can set it to print the answer sides on the reverse of the questions, or else you can put the card or paper back in the printer in the correct order and print the even numbered pages on the other side. You can laminate them and have children work on them individually or in groups, checking the answer on the back once they’ve had a go at it. Alternatively, make it competitive and have individuals or pairs race to get the answer, using a timer. A separate card featuring all answers is included if you prefer not to print the answers on the back of the cards. Use the double-sided worksheet for classwork or homework. There are 40 differentiated full stops and capital letters self-check sentences cards for independent or paired work. Students could write the first word of each identified sentence on a whiteboard. Front sides have a short, engaging paragraph with no full stops and capital letters. If cards are laminated, students could mark them on. They could also write text out if you wish, before self-marking. Students must start proper nouns with capitals, though as the focus is sentence demarcation, I have kept these to a minimum. Small number of commas also missing. These have been added to answer sides but not in red as they are not the focus. Dyslexia-friendly font and spacing used, together with pastel background All files also included without background Non-pastel background versions could be printed on pastel paper     SAVE BY BUYING AS PART OF A BUNDLE… Writing and Sentences Activities KS2 BUNDLE Literacy Activities KS2 BUNDLE   YOU MIGHT LIKE… Complex Sentences Activity Cards Creative Writing Prompt Cards Editing SPaG Puzzles Worksheets Improving Sentences Spelling Games and Puzzles Year 5 / 6

Factors and Multiples Y5 Y6

(2)
Fun Upper Primary Maths games and activities for Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 5 and 6 - or Primary 6 and 7 in Scotland. Factors and Multiples starters, warm ups, early finishers tasks, revision etc. A differentiated set of over 70 cards to be used for self-checking factors work or for fun games, plus 6 game boards and 36 cards for multiples bingo / lotto. FACTORS: Lower ability file features numbers up to 100. Higher ability file includes many more challenging numbers, up to 16,000. The cards are designed to be printed double-sided with the answers (all factors of the number) on the back. Once you have printed the front side, pop your paper or card back in the printer and print the answers. This works especially well as an early finisher activity. Pupil Instruction Card is included for ‘Factors Frenzy’ game, where children compete to find as many factors of a number as they can. It could get quite competitive! MULTIPLES: 6 bingo boards, each featuring 6 numbers between 2 and 12. Print and laminate these as well as the 36 number cards (which each feature four numbers). When picking up a card, players must decide if the four numbers on their card are ALL multiples of a single number on their board. If so, they can place it over that number. If not, they put it back. There’s tactical thinking in this game as some children will realise that all multiples of i.e. 12 are also multiples of 6, 4, 3, 2 - so they will need to prioritise covering the numbers for which there are fewer cards. A couple of cards will not be able to be placed on anyone’s board as there is no common multiple. As usual, the first to cover all numbers is the winner. A Pupil Instruction Card is included for this game too. It comes in both colour and black and white. These are available for a saving in a bundle (see below). I hope your pupils enjoy using them and that they save you time.
