French Pets Presentation

KS2 / KS3 Beginners Pets in French PowerPoint PPT Lesson Presentation (also in PDF format) and printable flashcards for your Les Animaux de Compagnie (Les Animaux Domestiques) unit. This 40 slide presentation (and more slides for games) introduces and reviews key vocabulary and phrases for Pets in French and includes activities and tasks. My French basics resources suit students beginning French and near beginners in Year 4, 5, 6 and 7 and equivalents. Many slides feature answers that appear when you click, for students to respond. There are also some very short reading comprehensions and an additional 20+ slides at the end of the presentation (making it 65 slides in total) form a ‘Splat’ game and a memory game (Kim’s game), which could be played in teams, with students working out which images are missing each time and giving the word in French. In the Zip file, along with a PowerPoint version, there is an additional PDF version of the presentation. While the PDF version does not retain the ability for teachers to reveal answers by clicking, it will still help you introduce and review this topic if you do not have PowerPoint where you work. Also within the Zip file is a PDF of flashcards, with two on each page. The presentation focuses on 12 key animal words (cat, dog, rabbit, horse, snake, guinea pig, hamster, parrot, lizard, mouse, turtle, goldfish) and linked questions and answers, such as ‘Do you have a pet?’, and phrases linked to pets’ names, ages and colours. SAVE by purchasing as part of my French Pets BUNDLE, which also contains a French Pets Worksheets and French Pets Games. All 3 resources focus on the same core vocabulary. Mental Maths Tests Year 5 / 6

(1)
Ideal starter mental maths tests or quizzes. NO PREP! This pack contains 15 Mental Arithmetic PowerPoint Speed Tests, originally designed for Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) - Y5 and Y6 (Primary 6 and 7 and other equivalents) but might also suit some early KS3 classes for revision and consolidation. They could be used as part of SATs preparation too. UPDATE: Now included in PDF versions as well as the original PowerPoints. Money calculations are in UK Pounds, but dollar versions of all resources are also included. Students enjoy trying to beat their previous best score. These informal tests are split across 3 files and are designed to be shown on the whiteboard, with children recording answers in jotters or on paper. In each quiz there’s one question to a slide so children can focus on it for a few seconds before the next one comes up. The question slides are plain and uncluttered to minimise distractions. You can run the PowerPoint presentation on a timer if you wish - alternatively click it on yourself, perhaps allowing a little longer for more challenging questions. Each test features 20 calculations involving a variety of mathematical skills and knowledge. Alternatively, use the PDF versions. At the end of each test, there follows the same 20 slides repeated, with the answer added clearly. Students can mark their own or a partner’s work to cut down on your workload. If short of time, you can whizz through the answers but each answer appearing with its question like this allows for important discussions about strategies. Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Negative Numbers, Multiplying and Dividing by 10 and 100, Place Value, Decimals, Percentages, Fractions, Money, Measure (including Area and Perimeter, Time, Length), Angles. The PowerPoint files are editable should you wish to amend any wording or change the odd question to better suit your class. Differentiation: I’ve called this Set A rather than used any other identifier to help facilitate the use of my Set B (originally designed for Lower Key Stage 2) with lower ability children within the same class without children being aware of the age level of the questions. French Colours (Les Couleurs)

(0)
KS2 / KS3 Beginners French Language Colours / Colors vocabulary PowerPoint lesson presentation, printable games, activities, a worksheet, crossword and word search. Introduction and revision of 11 French colour (or color) words. The colours are introduced using the questions ‘C’est quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour itself) and ‘C’est de quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour of objects / animals etc).   My FSL / MFL French basics resources and units suit students beginning French, near beginners (and intermediate learners for revision) in: Upper Primary (Key Stage 2) - Year 4, 5, 6 (Y4 Y5 Y6) Secondary (Key Stage 3) - especially Year 7 and 8 (Y7 / Y8) Equivalents such as Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Core French in Canada May suit others, depending on experience   The presentation suits learners who are new or fairly new to French but it also includes teaching points about female and plural forms of the colour adjectives, which you can use if appropriate, plus an introduction to the words for ‘light’ and ‘dark’ colours. With almost 50 slides, it also includes pronunciation tips, an interactive Kim’s game and a slide for a splat game, where children can ‘splat’ the colour that’s been said in French by the teacher. Students are also invited to show the teacher classroom objects of a particular colour so if they already know the name of some classroom objects this will help. Alternatively, they could learn some for this activity. An additional US spelling version of the presentation is included. The Four in a Row game works well in either A3 or A4 and can be used with the colour word cards. Use different colour paper or card when printing the word cards so that opponents can play with a different colour set. Students put their cards in a pile, taking the top one and choosing strategically which space to place it on (as long the colour on the space matches the word on the card!). Or laminate the board and students mark on their initial with a dry-wipe marker if they correctly say the colour in French. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. There are also 8 cards for games of bingo and/or noughts and crosses (tic tac toe) and a 20-card ‘I Have…Who Has?’ game / Loop game. This latter resource features some light and dark versions of the colours. The worksheet is included with and without a word bank for support. Full answer keys for the worksheet and puzzles. The printables are all in PDF format. Explore these bundles: French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 1 French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 2 French KS2 / KS3 MEGA BUNDLE 3 Thank you from FullShelf Resources

Christmas Activities Fun Mental Maths and SPaG KS2

12 fun festive puzzles worksheets for Key Stage 2 Mental Maths and Literacy / English (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar / SPaG) to use as warm ups, starters, revision, homework or early finisher activities in December. They could also be used as main lesson tasks. With 2 levels of challenge, this BUNDLE provides ideal differentiation in many classes, perfect for meaningful practice at this busy time of year, with no prep required. Some of the puzzles were designed for Year 3 and 4 but these are likely to suit some learners in Year 5 and 6 requiring a simpler level of challenge. On the other hand, the Year 5 / 6 puzzles could provide challenge for more able learners in lower year groups. Full instructions and answer keys included. Click on the links to see more detailed information and previews, or to purchase separately: Christmas Maths Puzzles Christmas Literacy (SPaG) Puzzles CHRISTMAS MATHS PUZZLES: There are 3 Set A Numeracy puzzles that best suit Year 6 and 5 (P7 and P6) and 3 Set B puzzles originally designed for Year 4 (P5) - and Year 3 (P4) if all concepts have been covered. Both sets could be used in the same class for differentiation if required. Set A might also suit some early KS3 classes. They work well at the busy end of term as little preparation is required and they are very flexible and can be left aside and picked up again as required. An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, these Hidden Word / Spot the Mistakes puzzles make ideal starter, early finisher or homework activities for this special time of year. Similar to codebreaker puzzles, a Christmas-related word is revealed after completing mental arithmetic calculations. Each puzzle contains a grid. Within each box is a calculation and a letter. Pupils circle any boxes containing mistakes. Then they assemble letters from the circled boxes to reveal the Christmas word. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Multiplying and Dividing by 10 and 100, Place Value, Negative Numbers, Fractions, Percentages and Decimals (Not all concepts feature in Set B). LITERACY (EDITING / PROOFREADING PUZZLES: KS2 Christmas Editing / Proofreading puzzles. Minimal preparation required (ideal for busy end of term), these 6 fun Literacy / English puzzle worksheets provide practice of a range of Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG) during late November and December. 3 puzzles were originally designed for Year 6 and 5 (P7 and P6) and 3 simpler ones for Year 3 and 4 (P4 and P5). Both sets could be used in the same class for differentiation if required. They could also be used for revision in early KS3. Versions are included with and without a festive background picture. All sentences are Christmas-themed. These puzzles work in a similar way to the maths ones above, a Christmas-related word being revealed after completing the editing work. Each puzzle contains 20 lines of text (or 15 in the simpler ones). Pupils circle any mistakes they spot. If there are 3 or more mistakes in a single line, they highlight the corresponding letter in the grid at the bottom of the page. At the end they rearrange the highlighted letters to reveal the Christmas word. Puzzles can be completed individually or in pairs / groups, with pupils supporting each other and pooling their editing / proofreading skills. Pupils often forget or avoid re-reading their own work to check for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves. Some of the aspects of SPaG included: common spelling errors, full stops, capital letters, question marks, commas, colons, speech marks, proper nouns, missing words, repeated words, tenses, subordinate clauses and embedded clauses. (Not all concepts feature in the 3 simpler puzzles (Puzzles 4-6). You might also be interested in my general set of Editing / Proofreading Puzzles for Year 5 and 6. A bundle of Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) activities for finding Fractions of Quantities: differentiated Four in a Row Games and Active Card Game. Also known as Fractions of a Set / of a Group / of Whole Numbers etc. Originally made for Year 5 and Year 6. Great for lesson starters, early finishers tasks and revision. Includes: 6 Four-in-a-Row Games (3 levels, 2 of each) 54 Card Printable Team Treasure Hunt (Differentiated) Answer keys included. Please check the individual resource pages and previews to see if the calculations provide an appropriate range of challenge for your students. These activities were made for revision and consolidation in Year 5 and 6 but might suit other years too. You can also purchase these 2 resources as part of my bigger Fractions Activities BUNDLE, along with Hidden Word Puzzles Worksheets for a variety of Fractions concepts. If you prefer, you can also purchase the Fractions Puzzles Worksheets as part of my Fractions, Decimals and Percentages BUNDLE MORE INFORMATION - FOUR IN A ROW: Print and laminate the Four in a Row boards for regular use. The boards were originally designed in A3 to work especially well with larger groups but you can scale it down to print in A4 if required or preferred. There are 6 game boards, two for each level of challenge, indicated with a star system, with one star being the least challenging. The one star version includes only unit fractions of small numbers. The two star version includes fractions of larger two-digit numbers, while the three star version progresses to fractions of three and four-digit numbers. Students work strategically as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a dice each time to decide from which column to pick a calculation (the columns are numbered 1-6). Students write their answers on the board with a dry-wipe marker. MORE INFORMATION - TREASURE HUNT: This can be played multiple times in a lesson or across several lessons as groups can use different card sets each time. Teams complete a treasure hunt-type chain of fractions calculations, followed by a ‘Find the Target Number’ mental maths challenge, using a mixture of the four operations. There are 54 double-sided cards, forming sets of 6 cards for 9 teams. A key feature is the chance to involve lower ability students in a fun whole class activity to give them a boost of confidence without it being obvious their calculations are less challenging (3 of the sets are at an easier level). Full instructions included. Students collaborate on a treasure hunt type maths trail and when they’ve collected all 5 answers, they are given a target, which they must make using 3 given numbers. You can print and laminate the cards in batches of 3 sets, so if you don’t require them all, you needn’t print them. The cards should be printed double-sided (they’ve been laid out to facilitate this). I print by selecting the ‘2-Sided Short Edge (Top)’ option. However, if you can only print one-sided, print all the even-numbered pages, replace the paper, and print the odd-numbered pages on the back. Give each team their ‘Start’ card. Spread out all other cards, answer side up. You may wish to remove cards from any set not being used, although this is not necessary. On your signal, teams turn over their Start card and complete the calculation. Each team sends one person to collect the correct answer card, on the other side of which will be their next question and a letter to confirm which team it belongs to. Ensure teams immediately replace any cards not marked with their letter. The process continues until the team have answered all five calculations. On the other side of the final answer card will be a target number, which teams must make, using the numbers printed in boxes in the bottom right corner of 3 of their cards. Use all 3 numbers and only once each, using any of the 4 operations. The first to make their target number wins! Jumbled Sentences KS1

3 Resources
This is a BUNDLE of popular hands-on sentence ordering Key Stage 1 Writing resources. It contains 3 different full class sets or reusable simple sentence construction activities and is great for differentiation. The jumbled sentences sets now also come with additional worksheet versions of all 90 boards. Originally designed for Year 1 (Primary 2 in Scotland) SPaG / Grammar lessons, these activities could be used elsewhere in EYFS / Reception (Primary 1) and Key Stage 1, depending on ability. Emergent writers love lifting the words off the boards to unscramble them to find the hidden simple sentence. With an engaging picture clue and title on each board, these word sequencing Literacy Basic Skills resources suit a range of learning styles. After carefully reading the jumbled words, your early writers correctly rearrange them on the board before writing the sentence out on the lines provided, using a dry-wipe pen. Regular practice with scrambled sentences should help children begin to form sentences independently. There are 3 x 65-page PDF documents in Zip files, together with additional editable Word documents of the word cards only, in case you wish to change the font or colour of the words. Each mixed-up sentence contains a word beginning with a capital letter to help children identify the first word and to reinforce this important punctuation rule, and a full stop (or question mark) to pick up and place at the end of their sentence. While constructing these sentences, children also learn about word order, parts of speech and about the fact that a sentence must make sense on its own. This bundle contains: A set of 30 4-5 word sentence boards A set of 30 6-8 word sentence boards A set of 30 question sentence boards Worksheet versions of all 90 boards (for use without the word cards) An answer key for all 3 sets, listing the correctly rearranged sentences for your convenience Teacher notes / instructions Please see the individual resources for detailed previews. If you decide to buy them I hope your children have a lot of fun using them and if you can spare a moment to review them, I would be very grateful. INSTRUCTIONS: Print in colour on quality card to make it sturdy and laminate for repeated use. It’s ideal for using as a regular activity, with children working on a different one each session. Or choose the ones you make up if working with a smaller group. It could be used with SEN / ASN groups or others requiring support with writing. Words are printed in faint grey on each sheet in a random order. Once laminated, cut the word strips and stick each word on top of this faint type, using Blu Tack, Blu Tack ‘Glu Dots’ or equivalent. Each strip is in a different colour to help identify the board it is from. Train the children to replace the words to these starting positions and to wipe boards before putting them back. Good quality laminating pouches and easy-wipe pens will help with this! Could be used as a fun starter, revision, early finisher activity etc. BLACK AND WHITE versions of the cards also included. PDF format. In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7. Differentiation: The one-star version has more simple calculations to work out in centimetres. The two-star version has more challenging calculations and includes some conversion between centimetres and metres. Calculations can be done mentally or with a little working out on a mini whiteboard or scrap of paper. Answer cards are included for pupil self-checking or to help teachers assess. The cards can also be used separately from the bingo game, with individuals or pairs working out the area and checking. They could perhaps time themselves to see how many they can correctly answer in 5 or 10 minutes. Or small groups could compete against each other to get the answer first, scoring a point if they manage it. If you don’t need to use both versions of the bingo / lotto game at the same time, I recommend printing the boards back to back to save on card and laminating pouches. If using both sets of cards, I suggest printing them on different coloured card to help keep them separate. KS2 / KS3 French Numbers to 100 (Les Nombres) printable speaking games: 5 loop games - a differentiated set of three 30-card loop games/follow me/domino cards for French mental maths and two 30-card sets for simple French number matching.   My FSL / MFL French basics resources and units suit students beginning French, near beginners (and intermediate learners for revision) in: Upper Primary (Key Stage 2 KS2) - Year 4, 5, 6 (Y4 Y5 Y6) Secondary (Key Stage 3 KS3) - especially Year 7 and 8 (Y7 / Y8) Equivalents such as Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Core French in Canada May suit others, depending on experience   PDF format. FRENCH MENTAL MATHS SETS: Combine mental maths agility with French number learning in this fun activity. The three sets cater for different ages, abilities and experiences of French. Giving children the chance to use French numbers (Les Nombres / Les Numeros ) in calculations can build understanding, recall and confidence in using them. Includes: one 30-card set focusing on numbers to 40 one 30-card set focusing on numbers to 60 one 30 card set focusing on numbers to 100 There is no particular starting card as each loop is continuous but all sets do have ‘un’ (one) in them and you might want to start them here. Each set has a different coloured border but if not printing in colour you might want to print on different coloured card or paper so as not to mix them up when using more than one set. SIMPLE NUMBER MATCHING SETS: Again, you can start at any point in the loops. There’s one 30-card set for 0-40 and another for 0-100. Whether in whole class activities or group work, I hope your pupils enjoy using these. If you can spare a moment I would be grateful for a review. Many thanks. Key Stage 1 (KS1) Year 1 and Year 2 (Y1 / Y2) add and subtract 9 and 11 (and 10) printable mental maths activities. Use in Maths / Numeracy lessons for independent work, starters, warm ups, early finishers tasks, revision etc. There are 36 self-check write and wipe trail cards to be laminated for pupils to complete with wipeable pens. Ideal for fun consolidation once you have taught the related strategies of adding 10, then adding 1 / adding 10, then subtracting 1 etc. Will suit some Year 3 (Y3) and older learners in KS2 for consolidation. In Scotland, use for First Level Maths, Primary 2 and 3, or Primary 4 and above needing consolidation.   WRITE AND WIPE TRAILS Each card contains 14 mental maths calculations - over 500 calculations across the whole set. ALL ANSWERS INCLUDED. Differentiation: The first 18 cards involve 2 digit numbers, while more able or older pupils could use cards 19-36, which involve 3-digit numbers (and bridging through hundreds in some). For further differentiation, allow number lines / number squares where appropriate. They can be used by individuals or you could have pairs or small groups racing against each other to complete trails accurately. It promotes speed and accuracy and is a more engaging alternative to worksheets. Starting at the bee and working their way around the card in a spiral, children write the answer to each calculation in the box, creating a running total. The final answer is printed next to the flower in the middle of the card so they can see if they have correctly completed it. If not, children can check to see where they have gone wrong. Answer cards can be used by the pupils themselves or by the teacher to see at a glance where pupils have gone wrong. Print and laminate if required. I hope your pupils enjoy using these. If you can leave me a review I would be very grateful.   I have other versions of this resource, to practise different aspects of adding and subtracting. Decimals Place Value Game Year 5 / 6

(1)
KS2 well-differentiated Four-in-a-Row Game Boards and cards for consolidation of decimal place value understanding and ordering decimal numbers (1, 2 and 3 decimal places). Ideal for starters, warm ups, early finishers activities etc. Originally designed for Key Stage 2 Y5 and Y6 - or Second Level, Primary 6 and 7 in Scotland. PDF format. Full instructions included. Please check the previews to see if it is suitable. SAVE by purchasing this as part of a BUNDLE: Place Value Activities BUNDLE KS2 Maths Games BUNDLE Decimals Activities BUNDLE DECIMAL NUMBERS FOUR IN A ROW: • Two sets of 54 decimal number cards featuring numbers from 0.001 to 2.01 (1 set includes numbers up to 2 decimal places, the other up to 3 decimal places) • Two A3 Four in a Row boards. The 1 star version was originally designed to go with the cards to 2 decimal places, while the more challenging 2 star version was designed for the cards to 3 decimal places. However, both sets of cards would work with either board. It works especially well in A3, however, you could scale down the board to A4 and use the smaller card set supplied. You could have pairs take on other pairs. Each team of two starts with a set of cards (print each set on different coloured card if you don’t have coloured printing that would allow you to print the different coloured cards supplied, then laminate to use again and again). It works well if each team shuffles their cards, puts them in a pile and takes one from the top at a time, which they then put down on the board if there’s a suitable empty box. They aim to get four of their cards in a row. Each box has a stipulation about the numbers that can be placed on it (no tenths, < 1.5, > 0.31, < 0.56, five hundredths etc). To save printing you could split a set between 2 or 3 boards as a single team won’t require all 54 cards. The cards can also be used separately from the game boards for ordering activities. Money Games Change from Ten Pounds

(1)
Money Games (Calculating Change from Ten Pounds): differentiated, illustrated four-in-a-row boards, each featuring 36 prices in UK currency (sterling) for finding change from £10, plus a 20-card loop card / dominoes set. Printable fun for starters, early finishers activities, revision etc. FOUR IN A ROW A fun, strategic activity for consolidating this key money / financial / shopping skill. Ideal for maths lessons or Money Week skills practice. Originally designed for Key Stage 2 (KS2), Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 (Y3 / Y4 / Y5 and Y6), depending on ability. In Scotland, it’s for Primary 4, 5, 6 and 7. Includes: 2 PDF files 2 standard game boards (featuring different items and prices from each other) 2 lower ability boards (same as above but less challenging calculations) Answer grids for at-a-glance checking by pupils or teacher Teacher notes Laminate and use again and again. Children work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get 4 correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. It works especially well if they roll a dice to find which column they must pick a calculation from (columns numbered 1-6). If there are no questions left in a column, skip a go or roll again. Imagining that they pay for each item with £10, pupils use a different coloured whiteboard pen to record on the board the change due for each of their transactions or add an initial or symbol if both teams are using the same colour. I recommend printing in A3 but A4 is okay too. The LA versions have a star next to the title. Print on different coloured card or paper if required. LOOP GAME / FOLLOW ME CARDS / DOMINOES A 20-card set that can start with any card. A child reads the ‘I spend’ part first as they make their ‘purchase’ with others working out if they have the relevant ‘I give you’. Use as a game for groups or as a whole class starter or plenary (in pairs if necessary). LA pupils could be given less challenging cards so they can still experience success. I have packs for calculating change from £1, £5 and £20, available with this pack in a bundle: Change Games Bundle Other popular KS2 Maths resources: Mental Maths Bundle Multiplication / Division Bundle Angles / Symmetry Activities Bundle Thank you.
