Angles Game Year 5 / 6

(2)
Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 5 / 6 printable activity for classifying angles (identifying angle types), turns, 8-point compass, missing angles etc. A game board and 80 question cards (differentiated at two levels) to add variety and fun to angles work in Upper Primary Y5 and Y6 (or Second Level Primary 6 and 7 in Scotland). It could suit other ages for differentiation and revision. It mixes up different aspects of the topic in a fun self-checking learner-directed activity, allowing the teacher to work with other groups. There are additional challenges for the children to complete as they move around the board. All in a 15-page PDF file. Differentiation: There’s a more challenging Green version, while the Blue one is for younger or less able learners. A different set of question cards is provided for each game. In the Green version, questions 1-20 focus on identifying angle types / names (acute, right, straight, obtuse, reflex) and 21-40 involve turns and the 8-point compass. Questions 40-50 deal with working out missing angle sizes on a straight line, vertically opposite angles, angles around a point etc. It should be simple for you to weed out any questions that have not yet been covered. In the Blue version, questions 1-20 focus on less challenging questions about identifying angles and 21-30 bring in turns and the 8-point compass. I used different coloured card for additional sets so they didn’t get muddled, and laminated them. I recommend blowing up game boards to A3 for use with bigger groups. Mental Maths Tests Year 4

(1)
Ideal starter mental maths tests or quizzes. NO PREP! This pack contains 15 Mental Arithmetic PowerPoint Speed Tests, originally designed for Lower Key Stage 2(KS2) - Year 4 (Y4) and, if the concepts have been taught, Year 3 (Y3) - and other equivalents (in Scotland that’s Primary 5 and 4). They will also suit some lower ability students in Years 5 and 6 (Primary 6 and 7). UPDATE: PDF versions of all tests are included as well as the original PowerPoints. Money calculations are in UK pounds but additional dollar versions of all resources are also included. Students enjoy trying to beat their previous scores. These informal tests are split across 3 PowerPoints and are designed to be shown on the whiteboard, with children recording answers in jotters or on paper. In each test or quiz there’s one question to a slide so children can focus on it for a few seconds before the next one comes up. The question slides are plain and uncluttered so as to minimise distractions. You can run the PowerPoint presentation on a timer if you wish - alternatively click it on yourself, perhaps allowing a little longer for more challenging calculations. Each test features 20 questions involving a variety of mathematical skills and knowledge. Alternatively, use the PDF versions. At the end of each test, there follows the same 20 slides repeated, this time with the answer added clearly. Students can then mark their own or a partner’s work to cut down on your workload. If short of time, you can whizz through the answers but the idea of each answer appearing with its question like this is that it allows for important discussions about strategies used. Concepts include: Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Times Tables, Doubling and Halving, Multiplying and Dividing by 10, Fractions, Place Value, Money, Measure, Time and Angles. The PowerPoint files are editable should you wish to amend any wording or change the odd question to better suit your class. Differentiation: I have called this Set B rather than used any other identifier to help facilitate the use of my Set A (originally designed for Upper KS2) with children within the same class without children being aware of the age level of the questions. Click on this link to see the Set A version of this resource: Year 5 Year 6 Mental Maths PowerPoint Tests This Year 3 and Year 4 resource is available alongside other Mental Numeracy resources for the same stage in this great value bundle: Mental Maths Bundle Year 4 / Year 3 For engaging, time-saving printables and presentations to plan Primary Literacy, Maths and French lessons, visit FullShelf Resources

Fun French vocabulary puzzles! There are 8 fun puzzles worksheets for revision of beginner French vocabulary at KS2 or KS3. These no prep printable activities include differentiation, vocabulary support and full answer keys. They are great for back to school, start of term, end of term, early finishers tasks etc. They include words from topics such as: Body Parts / Les Parties du Corps Calendar / Le Calendrier et Quel est la Date? Clothing / Les Vetements Colours / Les Couleurs Describing People / Les Descriptions Physiques Family / La Famille Food and Drink / La Nourriture et Les Boissons Greetings and Introductions / Les Salutations et Je me Presente Numbers / Les Nombres Pets / Les Animaux de Compagnie School / L’ecole Classroom Vocabulary / Les Objets de la Classe Sport and Hobbies / Le Sport et Les Passe-temps Weather / La Meteo   My French basics resources are made for students beginning French and near beginners in Years 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and equivalents, depending on experience and ability. Please check previews to assess suitability.   Contained in this 35-page PDF file: 8 puzzles worksheets (3 versions of each) Full answer keys Vocabulary list to support students who require it Teacher instruction page   SAVE by getting this in French Revision Worksheets BUNDLE, which also contains French Comprehension Worksheets   Students translate numbered English words and enter into the grid. The letters in the shaded boxes, reading from top to bottom, form a French sentence. Students write this on the lines at the bottom, placing one letter on each dash (slashes separate the words), and translate it. Choose which version you require for your students, depending on age, experience and ability: The 1-star versions have some of the letters added to the grid to support students, the 2-star versions just have the first letter of each word (or if the first letter is in a shaded box, the rest of the word has been supplied instead), while the 3-star versions (hardest) feature entirely blank grids. You can also differentiate by supplying the vocabulary support list to students who require it. This approach works especially well with the 2-star puzzles as students can use the first letter of any word they don’t know to find the French translation relatively quickly. MORE TIPS: Students could work on these puzzles in groups or mixed ability pairs. To use again, laminate and use dry-wipe pens. Students could be encouraged to use French dictionaries or the Internet for words they do not know. They could also use them to check the meaning of the hidden sentence.

Students place the selected words anywhere in their sentence, as long as it makes sense, recording the sentence on paper or a mini whiteboard. You may wish to allow flexibility (changing verb tense, using the verb as an adjective etc.) To cater for different situations and abilities, change the number of words they roll for, have students team up with a partner or select any words they want from the card. I encourage dictionary use for unfamiliar words and urge students to keep sentences they are especially proud of for use in longer pieces of writing. The activity might spark a whole story! Print on card or paper and laminate for repeated use. With a smaller group, choose the ones you print and/or laminate cards back to back. Alternatively, display cards on the screen for whole class use.   YOU MIGHT LIKE… Editing SPaG Puzzles Worksheets Creative Writing Prompt Cards First and Third Person Lesson

These are Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 5 and Year 6 (Y5 / Y6) place value printable activities for numbers up to 6 and 7 digit develop understanding of place value, while practising mental maths. There are 72 self-checking maths trails (36 up to 6 digit numbers and 36 up to 7 digit numbers) to make into reusable activity boards or simply print as worksheets (versions also included without the final answer). Ideal as main lesson tasks, starters, early finishers, home learning, homework and revision. PDF format. (In Scotland, this suits Second Level Maths, Primary 6 and 7.) A fun activity that can be used as a competitive game or an individual challenge Differentiation: In addition to there being 2 different levels here (up to 6 or 7 digits), the last 6 trails in each set (trails 31-36) are a little less challenging than the first 30, helping less able students to experience success without drawing attention to the level Print as many A4 boards as you require (printing on card recommended), laminate for regular use and have students complete trails with whiteboard pens Consider printing and/or laminating back-to-back to save resources A5 worksheet versions of the trails (two trails per A4 page) are included with the answer removed, which you might want to use for classwork or homework without laminating Separate final answer key versions included (for use with worksheet versions) Full answer versions also included for speedy checking by student or teacher if required Alternatively students could use a calculator to help them see where they have gone wrong. Students love using these trails, fixing any errors for themselves. They could work in pairs or individually and choose whether to time themselves or race against their friends.   How do they work? The trails each feature 12 addition and subtraction calculations (practising a variety of vocabulary for the operations) to consolidate place value. A start and end number are printed on each card, so students can work from left to right down the rows, adding and subtracting different size numbers, until they reach the end, where they can check if they arrived at the correct final number.   These trails are available alongside other place value games and activities for large numbers and decimal numbers in a popular bundle: KS2 Place Value Activities Bundle   Some of my other popular KS2 Maths / Numeracy resources: Mental Maths Bundle Multiplication / Division Bundle   Please visit FullShelf Resources to explore more. Speed Distance Time Activities

Designed for an Upper Key Stage 2 (KS2) Year 6 class but suitable for early KS3 Year 7 for revision, these 6 Speed, Distance and Time printable Four in a Row games (metric units) are fun alternative activities to additional textbook work on this maths topic, after pupils know the formulae D=SxT, S=D÷T and T=D÷S. ANSWER VERSIONS of all games are included. All games are in PDF format. Contains a more simple (one star) and more challenging (two star) version for each of: Distance Travelled Average Speed Time Taken In addition to featuring generally more challenging calculations, the two-star versions of each require conversion between units in some cases. Print and laminate the boards for regular use. I recommend printing boards in A3 if possible (or enlarging them to A3 on the copier) but A4 will be okay too. Pupils work as pairs against pairs or one against one to get four correct answers in a row - horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They roll a die each time to find which column to pick a calculation from (the columns are numbered 1-6). If there are no calculations left in the column whose number they have rolled, they either skip a go or roll again (depending on the rules you have chosen). Pupils write their answers on the board with a whiteboard marker. They could either use a different coloured pen to record answers on the board or add an initial or symbol if using the same coloured pen as their opponent. I hope your students enjoy playing these games. What about this festive mental maths puzzle pack? If you are teaching Describing People in French (Appearance, Hair, Eyes etc) at KS2 or KS3, this Describing People in French / Les Descriptions Physiques PowerPoint presentation and activities will help you plan lessons, with key teaching points, speaking activities, a quiz and an interactive game. This 97-slide presentation includes vocabulary and phrases for describing hair and eyes (Les Cheveux et Les Yeux), together with body size and details such as freckles and beard and accessories such as a hat, earrings and glasses. My French basics / beginners resources are designed for Year 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 for initial teaching or revision, but might suit others, depending on experience. Please check the preview to assess suitability. Due to a small number of UK, US and Canadian differences, there are 3 versions of the PowerPoint in the Zip file, along with a PDF version for all 3. SAVE by purchasing this as part of a French Physical Descriptions BUNDLE, which also contains: French Physical Descriptions Worksheets French Physical Descriptions Games You might also be interested in my Character Traits in French BUNDLE Or a Describing People (Physical and Character) BUNDLE, which contains all 7 resource packs on both topics, including one that combines both: (French Physical and Character Descriptions Translation Cards and Comprehension)   THIS PRESENTATION IS ALSO CONTAINED IN: French Presentations MEGA BUNDLE   The Presentation has been included in UK, Canadian and US versions with minor amendments to spelling. The other difference is the use of ‘bruns’ instead of ‘marron’ to describe brown eyes in the Canadian version as this is more common. Most text in the PowerPoints is editable anyway, if you wish to make changes to suit your students. Many slides in the original PowerPoint version feature answers that appear on a click, for students to respond. An additional PDF version is included. While the PDF version does not retain the ability for teachers to reveal answers by clicking, it will help you introduce and review this topic if you do not have PowerPoint where you work. The final 3 slides of the PowerPoint (an interactive hexagons game) is not compatible with PDF and is omitted from that version. Thank you for your interest.
