I got my year 8 class to work on this recipe and particularly on verbs and then they brought in the ingredients and they baked the cake themselves, following the instructions in French. They still talk about it!

Lesson for advance pupils on how to use a bilingual dictionary (my class uses Robert and Collins). Especially relevant with the new IB curriculum when pupils are expected to produce a piece of coursework in class, for which they are allowed to use a dictionary.

I created this Reading activity for my Yr10 group. The purpose of it is to get the pupils to deal with unfamiliar expressions in a familiar context. It also gives them lots of idioms that they will be able to reuse for their coursework.

Great game, to revise pretty much any topic! I used it to revise the past tense with 'avoir' and -ER verbs with my Year 8, but it can be adapted for any purpose. Switch off the lights, let the suspense penetrate the classroom and get the kids in a competitive mood! They'll love it...

2 PowerPoints to introduce/revise Christmas vocabulary in French and German. Both PowerPoint include presentation of vocabulary, 'shout out' game, SPLAT game and point game (pupils have to give the word in French to find out how many points they have won). I have also included different worksheets to practice the 15 words presented in the PowerPoint. For the French wordsearch, the hidden message is: 'Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année!', and for the German, it is: 'Fröliche Weinachten und ein gutes neues Jahr!' Enjoy and good luck for the end of term!

3 songs with a different approach on the environment. Clips can be found on YouTube. I love working with songs as it makes language learning more 'real&'. The first of the 2 songs was a big hit at the time it came out and I believe is still quite popular in France.

An IB/A-level resource on trash reality TV in France, seen by the band Tryo. I have used this song to talk about slang and verlan and as an opportunity to revise the pronoun 'en'. There is a translation exercise for students to practise the vocabulary from the song, as well as a gap-fill exercise to practise listening comprehension. Finally, I have put together a few questions to form the basis of a discussion.
