This resource has been designed for students working towards the AQA Entry Level Certificate in Maths. It contains three age-appropriate workbooks with revision notes, progress checks, certificate of achievements and answers on Component 7 - Geometry.
Entry 1 Workbook
This is a 31 page workbook. Tasks and activities include:
1.1 Recognising and naming common shapes squares, rectangles, triangles, circles and cubes
1.2 Comparing and ordering a group of shapes, pictures or similar shapes of different size
1.2 Recognising congruent shapes
1.2 Using and understanding the key words - smaller, smallest, bigger, biggest, larger, largest, thinner, thinnest, narrower, narrowest, wider, widest, longer, longest, shorter, shortest
1.3 Using and understanding positional vocabulary - left, right, between, inside, outside, middle, below, under, above, on top (of).
Entry 2 Workbook
This is a 25 page workbook. Tasks and activities include:
2.1 Recognising and naming shapes including pentagons, hexagons and octagons and identifying a right-angled triangle from a set of triangles
2.2 Recognising and naming cuboids, pyramids and spheres
2.3 Describing the properties of 2D shapes, including straight and curved edges and the number of vertices
2.4 Describing the properties of 3D shapes (solids) - edges, vertices and faces
2.5 Understanding angle as a measure of turn - identifying quarter turns, half turns, three quarter turns and whole turns, recognising clockwise and anti-clockwise directions
Entry 3 Workbook
This is a 31 page workbook. Tasks and activities include:
3.1 Identifying and naming prisms, cylinders and cones.
3.2 Drawing lines of symmetry on shapes or pictures.
3.3 Identifying nets of cubes and cuboids.
3.4 Identifying whether an angle is less or more than a right angle.
3.5 Identifying horizontal, vertical and parallel lines.
3.6 Denoting the position of a point on a grid by its coordinates or identifying a point or item given its coordinates.
3.7 Using north (N), east (E), south (S) and west (W) to give directions or position on a grid or map.
