This lesson was designed to use in an INSET that showcases how practice in any subject can be adapted to outstanding - it was taught to teachers so that they could feel and see outstanding.
This is a full unit of work that:
Guides a full class reading of the text
Embeds language analysis throughout
Embeds examplar paragraphs and practise of analytical and critical writing throughout
Covers the historical period at the outset so that it can be constantly referred to
Really helps students to understand the text and how to take a text apart, so builds the skills that KS3 students need for GCSE.

This is the first section of a whole scheme of work on Of Mice and Men, I created it this year, with attention to making sure that the Ofsted 2011 guidelines were being expemplified. The lessons structure reading the book from before reading to after and each of the early lessons covers different sectionhs of the book. They can all be taught togetether or you could choose to dip and pick as each can be adpated and can standalone. I can olny upload 20 bits to 1 resource feed, but the rest are on here.

Manchester –
This is a full unit of work with lesson by lesson PPs, that is part of a humanities curriculum covering History and Geography strands, as well as Literacy.The lessons are ready to teach and cover lots of topics, Titles are all on the lessons. Hope it’s a starting point for some of you.
