Types of Reactions (Oxidation, Combustion, Decomposition, Displacement) Differentiated Task

(0)
Activity in which students sort the statements into categories according to which type of reaction they are. Print out the slide of statements and they write them in the appropriate column. There is a pre-made table for students who this would benefit, and one slide where the statements are pre-coloured into categories - they just need to figure out which colour of statements apply to which reaction. There is also a differentiated gap fill activity for students who would struggle to access the sorting activity, and an answer sheet for this.

Electrolysis Introduction - Research/Summary Sheet

(0)
Worksheet covering electrolysis equipment, anions/cations and their movement, and the uses of electrolysis. I used this with an information hunt but you could use it with laptop research or as a revision summary sheet. Designed with OCR 21st Century Science in mind but could be used for most specifications.

Alloys Information Hunt/Research Activity & Worksheet

(0)
Information sheets for an active learning activity about alloys, accompanied by a research sheet/worksheet to fill in. This was designed with OCR 21st Century Science C4 (Material Choices - Improving the Properties of Materials) in mind, but alloys are covered on many syllabuses and this could easily be adapted. An answer table is included in the PowerPoint so you can get students to self-mark/correct. All images are used under a CC0 license (no attribution required, for personal or commercial use).
Periodic Table Research Task

Periodic Table Research Task

(0)
Students research the periodic table using laptops (or information sheets) and fill in their sheet, then produce a leaflet on the periodic table and atomic structure. You can easily change the ‘demonstrate’ task at the bottom of the sheet or add another question. Created with OCR 21st Century Science Topic C2 (Chemical Patterns) in mind but would work for other specifications or could be easily adapted. (The preview is cropped but the actual document has borders!)

C1/C2 (AQA) Taskmaster Challenge - Team Revision/Summary Game

(0)
A team challenge I created for my Y9 group at the end of C1 and C2, to recap both topics and to finish off the year. You could also use it at the start/middle of Y10 to recap what they have already done from GCSE. The challenges include making a model atom out of copper wire and mini marshmallows and modelling halogen displacement using lego bricks - you may wish to change these activities if you don’t have the resources to hand. The image I used in the corridor was a C1/C2 summary sheet (from TES). All images on the Element Zoo sheet are CC0 (free for commercial use, no attribution required). Enjoy!
Electrolysis Bundle

Electrolysis Bundle

2 Resources
Includes a worksheet on how to predict the products of electrolysis, a worksheet on how to write half-equations, and a summary sheet for C6 (AQA) - this could easily be used or adapted for other exam boards.
Chemical Formulae Worksheet

Chemical Formulae Worksheet

Worksheet created for a Y7 lesson on writing/interpreting chemical formulae. The formatting and subscript lettering is the same as on the main preview image, not on the other previews as TES messes these up for some reason!
