Verbatim Theatre Project - For Classroom Based Drama A simple Verbatim theatre project developed for KS3 Year 9 whilst classroom based. Resource includes: Scheme of work Workbook One live lesson which I did with students when they were isolating. I completed the project in small groups as students could move around the room, however this could easily be done as an individual project with scope to be completed at home if needed. I hope it helps someone out during these strange times!

Drama Star of the Week Certificate

(0)
Drama Star of the Week Certificate At the end of each KS3 lesson, I give 5-10 minutes to allow my students to nominate their ‘Star of the Week’ - they must give a name and a reason for the nomination. I then choose from the nominations. I give this student a certificate (because who doesn’t love a certificate!) and some house points. I have included the PDF, as well as an editable version on PowerPoint (you will need to download the font to get the title - click on the words and check the font box for the font name). I have also included the slide I include in all my lesson PowerPoints to accompany this part of my lesson. Nothing revolutionary but my favourite part of each lesson :)

GCSE Drama Dictionary

(1)
GCSE Drama Dictionary The GCSE Drama Dictionary is a workbook, with a range of drama terminology on the left side, then a blank space on the right for the students to complete their own definitions. It is designed to be completed across the GCSE course, as and when specific terminology is covered in lessons. I have previously used the workbook as a starter, plenary or even to be completed during cover lessons and then as a revision guide at the end of the course. The drama terms are split into different areas, such as voice and physicals skills. It also covers lighting terminology and backstage terms, as well as a practitioners, stage area and stage types section. Terminology is generic so covers all GCSE specifications.

'Macbeth' KS3 Drama Scheme of Work

(0)
Macbeth KS3 Drama Scheme of Work This is a 7 week Drama scheme of work aimed at Year 9 students. Each lesson contains a performance and design option for students to choose between - created to support students who haven’t opted for GCSE Drama with the aim of giving them an understanding of Macbeth in performance (my students study it for GCSE English). My students had done some work on each of the design elements previously, so I don’t go into detail about how to do these. The scheme covers four short extracts from the play, looking at different characters and with a focus on status, intentions, intepretation or atmosphere in the scene. The last two lessons are based on completing a live theatre review. I have used the National Theatre ‘Macbeth’ from 2017, found on the National Theatre Collection. This resources includes; Workbook (containing most of the resources for the design tasks) PowerPoints for each of the 7 lessons. Resources There is no written scheme of work with this resource. Images from Noun Project are accredited in the Notes section of the PowerPoints.

Creating a Production Scheme of Work

(0)
Creating a Production Scheme of Work The ‘Creating a Production’ scheme of work has been designed as a team building scheme for students at the end of Year 9 who have started the GCSE course, however it could be easily adapted to Key Stage Three also. The objective of the scheme is to give students ownership of creating a whole class performance to develop their skills in communication and teamwork, as well as introducing the different production roles in a theatre setting, giving useful preparation for the GCSE written exam. The students take responsibility for every aspect of the performance, including the directing. Each student in the class should have an acting role (except the directors, lighting technician and sound technician) and a production role - ensuring there is always a task to be completed in each lesson. This bundle includes a simple scheme of work, production packs for each of the production roles and some worksheets needed throughout the scheme. The scheme provided mentions the use of Grimm Tales. I have previously done this scheme with the Grimm Tales scripts by Carol Ann Duffy (two stories per class) or abridged Shakespeare scripts. It is a great scheme to get a class working together and appreciating one another, as well as allowing the freedom to develop their own ideas in relation to a script.
