Prehistoric Britain Timeline ordering activity (with a focus on ordering numbers)

(0)
A timeline ordering activity which features events from prehistoric Britain. The focus of this activity is ordering numbers up to 1000 (Y3 maths objective). It uses abbreviations kya for thousand years ago and ya for years ago to make the numbers manageable for the age group. Includes an activity for HAPs which is split into two parts - one featuring numbers to 1000 and an extension with numbers beyond 1000 and an activity for MAPs/LAPs which just features numbers to 1000. Also includes a PowerPoint which gives a brief introduction to the different parts of prehistoric Britain and guidance for children on how to compare and order numbers.

Multiple choice answer card with example (Y3 maths) hinge point questions

(0)
A multiple choice answer card which can be used for very rapid AfL. Print and laminate the cards and children can then fold them and hold them up to show the correct answer (a, b, c, d). Great for quickly checking children’s understanding in maths and other subjects with objective answers (eg SPaG, science). I have also included a few PowerPoints with example questions in which I have used very successfully with classes to be able to quickly decide who needs more input, extending etc.
HTO place value grid

HTO place value grid

(0)
Hundreds tens and ones place value grid. This grid is split into two rows to encourage children to use different resources to think about the difference between eg the number of tens and the value of the tens column. I have used it and encouraged children to think about which resources they would put in each row to best represent the questions that are being asked (for example, the first row asks 'What is it worth?' and I have encouraged children to use base 10 as this shows the value. The second row asks 'How many are there?' and I have encouraged children to draw blank counters or use cubes to represent the digit in that column). This is best if printed in A3 and then laminated for durability.
Base 10 place value grid (ThHTO)

Base 10 place value grid (ThHTO)

(0)
This is a base 10 place value grid. It features pictures of the relevant base 10 pieces at the top of each column next to the numerals (1, 10, 100, 1000) and the words and the bottom with space for children to write the number that there are (eg 6 thousands). There is a dividing line halfway down the page which allows it to be used for concepts such as column addition. Best printed in A3 and laminated.
