In this math art activity pupils need to identify the gradient (slope US) of a function, rearrangng where necessary from the implicit function to y=mx+c and hence identify the gradient. Pupils then shade all the squares with those answers in the colour stated. As a result pupils will have a picture of an Easter chick.
There are** three different worksheets** of increasing difficultly, they are;
Worksheet 1: There are 14 questions on finding the gradient from functions where Q1-14 the functions are already in the form y=mx+b (or mx+b=y) and one final question which requires rearranging to get the form y=mx+b
Worksheet 2: There are 14 questions, the first 5 pupils find the gradient of functions already in the form y=mx+b and then the remaining questions they must rearrange with the last few giving fractions.
Worksheet 3: There are 14 questions and pupils will need to rearrange them all.
There are two versions of each worksheet, either condensed to one page as shown in the cover photo, or questions and colour grid split into two pages to give you the flexibility of just doing the questions on the worksheet before any colouring. Also included are a A4 version (UK buyers) and a letter size version (US buyers).
Math Art combines the fun of colouring and the consolidation of mathematical skills . Is is ideal as a plenary activity to determine what learning has taken place, alternatively use to determine pupils prior knowledge to a topic and of course great for revision.
This resource comes complete with instructions, solutions and ideas for support/stretch. Check out our blog NumberLoving for more Easter Maths ideas.

Sequences & Series Revision Foldable
This resource includes two revision foldables for review of arithmetic and geometric sequences and series. An arithmetic sequence is defined as a sequence in which there is a common difference between terms. An geometric sequence is defined as a sequence in which there is a common ratio between consecutive terms i.e. every term is a constant multiple (common ratio) of the term preceding it.
Foldables can be used as a revision or summary exercise at the end of a topic. As the answers are hidden pupils can use these to ‘test’ themselves or ask someone else such as a parent to test them. They also make a great addition to any class book, making it an interactive notebook.
Please follow the printing instructions, selecting scale to fit. This resource includes an A4 size and a letter (US) size, please select the most appropriate for you.

Prompt sheets are an ideal activity to establish pupils’ prior knowledge of a topic or as a review/revision aid. Using the vocabulary wood bank pupils are prompted by pictures and diagrams to annotate each picture with detail.
This prompt sheet covers the topic of straight line graphs, looking at its properties, gradients, parallel, perpendicular lines and finding the equation of straight lines from the graph.

Transformation of Graphs Revision Foldable
This purchase includes nine foldables on tranformation of graphs, there are five on translation of graphs (as needed for the 9-1 GCSE Maths) and four foldables that have a mix of transformations e.g. translation, reflection and stretch. The foldables require the students to recall the different transformations (reflections, translations and stretch) naming and describing each transformation.
•Translating Graphs 1; Pupils state the general rules for translation of graphs e.g. f(x)+a. Once complete this could be used as support for pupils to refer to.
•Translating Graphs 2; Specific translations only in one direction, pupils describe and sketch for a function of f(x)=x²
•Translating Graphs 3; Specific translations in one or more direction on the graph of f(x)=x².
•Describing Translations 1; Pupils are given a sketch and from that they describe the translation on the f(x)=x², each translation is in one direction only.
•Describing Translations 2; Pupils are given a sketch and from that they describe the translation on the quadratic function, the translation is in one or more direction.
•Transforming Graphs 1; General rules for translation and stretches, pupils are to describe in words.
•Transforming Graphs 2; Specific transformations on the function f(x)=x² (axis provided)
•Transforming Graphs 3; Specific transformation on any function of your choosing (axis provided)
Foldables can be used as a revision or summary exercise at the end of a topic. As the answers are hidden pupils can use these to ‘test’ themselves or ask someone else such as a parent to test them.
The download will include two versions one in US letter size and the other in A4 paper size, please print to the most appropriate following the print instructions included.

Standard Index Form (Collect a Joke)
This is a collect a joke activity which requires pupils to collect the letters to give the punch line to a bad maths joke!
Pupils start where indicated, make a note of the letter in the middle of the row (cross it out to keep track) and then work out the answer to the question below. They then find this answer on the top row and again make a note of the letter underneath, thus collecting the punchline ‘because they have sine and cosine to get a tan’.
Easily laminated to be used with whiteboard pens time and time again.
