At the Women’s Football World Cup in 2023, the England team - the Lionesses - were an inspiration. Now they want to encourage a whole new generation to try hard and always do their best.

This resource includes 3 PowerPoint slideshows containing a total of over 50 slides of illustrations and discussion boxes. I originally created these slideshows for my author sessions in local primary schools using my book, Alfred the Great Positive Thinker. But I realised that they could easily be used by other folk to read the book to their own class. It’s available from Amazon for £9.99. The main theme is the promotion of positive thinking skills and the importance of a positive mental attitude. But there are other issues for children to discuss also. I’ve split the book into three separate sessions: • Lesson 1: pp1-26, reading time approx 18 minutes plus 3 discussion boxes approx 5 mins each • Lesson 2: pp27-48, reading time 15 minutes plus 3 discussions 5 mins each • Lesson 3: pp49-83, reading time 24 minutes plus 3 discussions 5 mins each Read the story to your whole class, using your IWB to display the slideshow. Stop at each discussion box and introduce the issue. Give talk partners no more than about 2 mins to discuss each question. This is a lovely, heart-warming song for Mother’s Day. Audio backing tracks (with and without vocals) and on-screen lyrics are included in the PowerPoint presentations for ease of use on an IWB.

Gosh, I’m so pleased with this one. It’s got a brand-new accompaniment from the band. Only a short song, but the sound effects are very effective. Themes are wonder, fear and hope.
