Your EYFS and KS1 students can use these easy prep 2d shapes to play maths games such as Memory, Pairs and Snap in groups find the matching shapes (for nursery) or shape and shape names (reception and year 1) and understand the mathematical properties (Years 2 & 3). With the red, blue & white clipart, this resource is ideal for celebrating Independence Day but can also be used for maths activities at other times. Most students love games, and these resources lend themselves well to playing popular games practicing key maths skills, recognising and naming 2D shapes and understanding definitions for these. Students can play this as part of their CHIL, or child-initiated independent learning activities, or as part of a maths lesson. Put them in your tuff tray or your maths centre to introduce and encourage games for geometry. Differentiation is easy - match for example the picture of a circle to the word ‘circle’ or print these 2x and match the same shapes. Challenge use the names and the definitions to read and understand the mathematical terms used to describe the shapes. If you use this as an adult-led activity, then ask questions such as: How many pointy bits/angles are there? How many sides are there? Do they look as if they are the same length? Are all the sides straight or curved? Can you name the shape? Can you see a similar shape in our classroom? You will get cards with: 14 shapes 14 shape names 14 shape definitions Instructions how to play different games notes patterns for the backs of the cards Prep is easy and quick - print, cut up the cards and you are ready for a fun and engaging lesson. German Speaking and Listening Conversation Prompts, Cards and Mats

Are you looking for some ways to encourage speaking and listening in German? These easy-prep conversation prompts and mats will do just that and are ideal as a starter activity to get students thinking and speaking straight away in German. They are great for working in pairs and differentiated so you will be able to use them for the whole class. Speaking and listening are skills that are so important and fun, however many students shy away from this because they don’t want to get this wrong. I would start a lesson with my puppet and model a conversation in German, adding a few words. Then my puppet would ask a few students a question so that they get involved. I would differentiate the questions to the student so some might answer simple questions with their name or ‘Ja’ and I would expect others to answer in more complex sentences. Then all students will use their conversation mats and ask and answer questions with their talking partner. This is a fun and quick way to start the lesson in the target language and engage students in German conversations. These activities help with confidence and fluency. When students are more confident and fluent, they can use the more challenging prompts and mats. Benefits Perfect for use as a lesson starter Ideal to use as an oral task Encourages speaking and listening skills Differentiated to target different skill levels Helps students practice their conversation skills A resource that you will use often **You will get: ** 3 mats in different designs 50+ cards in German (including some English prompts that encourage using German vocabulary without the support of hearing the language first) Blank mats to add their new vocabulary/ questions over the term and/ or year Blank prompt cards for you or students to write questions Instructions/Tips for Implementation Students can work in pairs using the conversation cards and mats at the beginning of the lesson to encourage speaking and listening skills.
