Challenge them to play again but to complete the loop faster to encourage speed. Students will love playing and won’t even realize how much they are getting quicker at seeing the relationship between place value and quantities. Use these as a quick stand-alone activity throughout the day to recap tens & ones Great as independent group activities as part of a lesson - each player gets more than 1 card Use them for early finishers Great for your students: Loop games are easy and fun to play Instructions are included Players will check each other’s understanding and therefore be learning together Gives students opportunities to discuss place value Games have a competitive element so will encourage perseverance If you like this resource, please leave a review, Thank you Please check out TES Shop (UK) Copyright © OwletLearning

3, 4, 6 & 8 Times Tables DOMINO Game & Arrays - 1st- 3rd Grade Maths Fact Fluency

(0)
Looking for times table activities to practice multiplication? These fun domino maths games include arrays, calculations and answers (great for mental recall) & will get your students excited about practicing 3, 4, 6 & 8 times tables to get quicker and more confident at working out calculations accurately and efficiently. Using the versions with the arrays (or grids) and calculations will illustrate what for example 3x7 looks like as a quantity. So often students learn their times tables by rote but do not know what these numbers mean. Seeing these as arrays will make that step from pictures to abstract maths (i.e. calculations) easier. Encourage students to discuss strategies they are using to clarify their thinking - you can find ideas about this in my Patterns & Tips Freebie resource. Use these as independent activities to play in pairs or small groups or as an adult-led task with opportunities to talk about how to make multiplying (and dividing) easier Differentiation is easy as there are 3 versions: easier - arrays and calculations arrays and answer harder and great for mental recall - calculations and answers mixing up the cards as an extra challenge Provide manipulatives, times table squares, 100 squares or number lines for extra support if necessary. Students will become more confident and fluent in their mathematical thinking. The activities are perfect for easy-prep fun maths lessons, extra practice, stand-alone activities, centres, supply lessons and home education. You will get: 24 cards in 3 Sets: Set 1 – arrays (or grids) and calculations Set 2 – arrays (or grids) and answers Set 3 - calculations and answers You will also get: teaching notes instructions answers patterns for the backs of cards Great for you: Low-prep - print, cut up cards & you are ready Great for your maths centres Ideal for maths lessons A great stand-alone activity Ideal for extra fun times tables and multiplication practice Great for easy-prep fun times table homework Great for your students: Popular activities that are easy to do - players are engaged to play and see if other players are correct Opportunities to understand what times tables look like as a picture/ quantity and multiply in fun ways. Using the grids and arrays will help them to understand and secure this key maths skill of multiplication and what it means rather than (only) reciting times tables by rote - an important step in maths. Learning together and games with a competitive element help students stay engaged If you like this resource, please leave a review, Thank you Please check out TES Shop (UK) Copyright © OwletLearning

These maths games are perfect for May, June and July with a beach theme and will engage your students. Students will be eager to play and work out the answers using these resources and see who can solve the most addition problems, circle the most sandcastles with their colours and claim these as theirs. Challenging the partner on whether they are adding up correctly, will keep them engaged and wanting to play these games more than once To make this easier for those students who need manipulatives, provide counters or other maths resources you have for adding e.g. Numicon, and checking answers. This gives a great connection between concrete maths i.e. handling objects and the more abstract maths of using numerals and written sums. A great game for adding up in our heads too Playing games gives a bit of competition which helps many students to make learning fun, persevere and try harder Setting up is quick and instructions are easy to follow and come with the games. Use them in adult-led activities where you can assess their speed of recall and accuracy of working out as they play These maths games can also be used as independent activities if you are teaching addition as part of a lesson, or as an activity for those students who need more practice Differentiation is easy - use the easier addition games using 2-digit numbers for students who need simpler additions to solve and support this with manipulatives or challenge them to add 2 3-digit numbers These games are great for maths centres, maths stations or your maths table display areas - laminate them for repeated use. Use 2 different coloured counters or coins, rather than colouring in for a quicker game which means that the games can then be used repeatedly You will get: Addition game for 2-digit (teens) number + 2/3-digit number Addition game for 2-digit number + 2/3-digit number Addition game for 2/3-digit number + 3-digit number Addition game for 3-digit numbers dice 4 spinners Coloured counters to use instead of colouring in Patterns to add to the backs of the games to make them look more professional Students love learning in fun ways and these games will help to practice their maths skills so that addition becomes easier and quicker.
