French Personal Information ID Cards
An engaging, fun 60 page resource (including cover pages, TOU and instructions)
lots of activity pages for your learners which you can assign carefully according to ability, based on reading and writing skills
Each page has jolly Christmas characters. We use their ‘cartes d’identité’ to discover lots about them and then use it as a basis for 1st person and/or 3rd person writing using personal information.
Vocabulary is based on simple personal information but learners may need a little research on some items (e.g. beignets)
Language covered:
first name/last name/birthday (number/month)/where they live/siblings/pets/likes and dislikes
This Distance Learning Pack can be used from home but equally would work well as printables for consolidation or revision of personal information. It could be used for cover lessons if you as the class teacher have already covered the basics. Alternatively, you as the teacher could print or assign sheets as bell tasks or homework.
Answers are included
The first 6 cards are in colour, then they are repeated in black and white. There are also A5 versions. You could print and laminate the A5 ones and use them as permanent resources and perhaps use them in conjunction with the question sheets.
Further development: Once learners have filled in their own carte d’identité they could use 3rd person to write about a classmate.
El pelo y los ojos
***updated to include answer sheet
Spanish hair and eyes simple worksheet to show understanding of hair and eye colour plus hairstyles.
I suggest you ask learners to draw each face so that you can keep the worksheet to use again. Another option is to project onto the IWB or make available to learners on their tablets if if they have them.
Activity 1: colour the eyes correctly.
Activity 2 draw and colour the hairstyles correctly.
Activity 3 Translate sentences into English.
Activity 4 Translate sentences into Spanish.
Suggested extension activities
describe a celebrity’s hair and eyes
describe yourself and your family
create a character and describe them in Spanish
draw and describe your friend

Easter booklets for Years 7-11
Pâques
This is a selection of booklets ranging from basic French Easter vocabulary matching, colouring and puzzles to higher level reading tasks further up the year groups. Each one has an accompanying answer booklet. Each booklet is usable as a stand-alone document for Easter activities. Alternatively, it could supplement your learning on Pâques.
You can use each of the sheets independently as needed within your lessons or print as an A4 booklet ready for your learners to work through. The booklet begins with a cover page to colour in to help settle your group. In-built differentiation or challenge working through the Easter booklet means that all children should be able to access the learning independently, allowing you to help those who most need it. It would therefore also work well as a cover lesson.
I would recommend black and white copies be lightened slightly as the coloured boxes can make the text a little harder to read than in colour.
Year 7
Vocabulary: BASIC Joyeuses Pâques, C’est Pâques, un lapin, une cloche, un (grand) œuf, un panier, des chocolats, une croix, un agneau, des tulipes, un poussin, une église, des jonquilles,
CHALLENGE un caneton, le soleil, l’herbe, les fleurs, les petits poussins, leurs vêtements, à votre choix, les coccinnelles, le champignon vénéneux, l’oiseau, le ciel, les feuilles.
This booklet is intended for Year 7 learners and helps them develop basic knowledge of Easter vocabulary in French. For extension and challenge, you could:
• Ask learners to write a paragraph about why they like or dislike Easter
• Say what they receive at Easter, what they do and where they go
• Prepare an Easter card for a friend, teacher or relative using their new vocabulary
• Make an Easter board game
• Write about why Easter is an important festival
• Research the differences between Easter in their country and France and write a summary in English or the TL.
Year 8
• English cultural reading compréhension
• Vrai/faux
• Word search
Year 9
• French handwriting
• Word puzzles/find the hidden messages
Year 10*
• Summarise French text in English
• Board game
• Recipe reading compréhension
Year 11

Viva 1 Module 1
LESSON 1
An interactive PowerPoint lesson to recap or introduce Viva 1 Module 1: greetings/name/where you live/how are you. It covers the vocabulary in the module and has in-built extension. Reading/speaking/writing skills covered plus a noughts and crosses game.
There are notes in the slides for guidance on how to deliver the activities, also.
Year 7 Spanish
First Spanish Lesson
Get to know your KS3 pupils.
Do your pupils come from a variety of feeder primaries? This resource can help you to clarify level of MFL depending on which primary your intake is from.
This is also a helpful resource if the timetable hasn’t started yet or your sets/groups are not sorted in the third week of term which happened to me one year and I had to cobble to something together for two weeks not knowing if the children would be in the group or not…
There is room to put in the name of your school.
For differentiation ideas, try putting anagrams of Spanish vocab’ on the board (or on certain tables if you know the ability…) or anagrams of famous Spanish speakers. Also see my free French version.
A couple of puzzles to explore directions vocabulary in Spanish. One wordsearch, one crossword.
Language covered:
¿para ir a…? How do you get to …?
pase go past
hasta up to
cruce cross
siga carry on
tome take
suba go up
baje go down
tuerza turn
todo recto straight on
al final de la calle to the end of the street
está lejos/¿está lejos? it’s far/is it far?
la primera calle the first street
la segunda calle the second street
la tercera calle the third street
a la derecha to the right
a la izquierda to the left
los semáforos at the traffic lights
la rotonda the roundabout
la plaza the square
**Time saving codes for marking
**
French, Spanish, Italian…
Stick the A4 sheet into learners’ exercise books at the front or back. As you are marking, any common corrections and so on that they should complete have codes. You just need to write the code on the work. Learners then
write out the relevant target(s) on their marked work - and complete them, of course…
The language is described as the “Target Language” so that the sheet is appropriate for many languages.
A useful classroom wall display in Spanish. WYSIWYG! 51 pages. Print in colour on A4 and cut to the shapes. Organise the words under the correct word type heading and use the images to help understanding. They can then be used during lessons by students and you as the teacher can draw your attention to them to show how to improve speaking and writing skills.
Spanish Dónde Vives
KS3 Where do you live vocab’ - casa/piso/aparamento/centro/afueras/bloque etc.
Lots of games and activities, teacher-led, pairs, whole class to build confidence in the ‘dónde vives’ vocabulary (types of house/where in town/adjectives/opinions).
This fits well with Listos 1 Module 4 but have a look at the vocabulary as it will fit with other textbooks or can be used on its own.
Here’s a summary of what you get:
A 63 page PowerPoint with vocabulary list .
Stars to represent difficulty but these are only as a guide as you will know your learners best.
PDF copies of just the activities so you don’t need to trawl through the PPT for them
Activities around the vocabulary:

One Pen, One Dice copying activities

A generic worksheet with boxes to fill in when pupils are watching a film. It’s generic so should go with any film! There are French and Spanish versions. Haven’t updated my cover image yet, apologies.
Find: colours/words you know/words you heard but would like to understand/cognates/opinions etc. and a handy section to fill in how far into the film you’ve got so you can pick up next lesson.
A Tarsia puzzle. Search for Tarsia software so you can open it! Could be a good starter to check progress once vocab’ covered/basis for discussion of new vocabulary if introducing the vocabulary as new. Good for pairs to discuss language. Could set a time limit to create some competition! Contains vocab’ such as être/avoir/family members. The puzzle has to be cut out into triangles and then placed French to English to create a shape.
Simple assessment: answer the questions in Spanish.
¿Cómo te llamas?
¿Cuántos años tienes?
¿Dónde vives?
¿Qué tal?
Extension: ¿Cómo se escribe, tu nombre? Y ¿otra información?
