French Personal Information ID Cards

French Personal Information ID Cards An engaging, fun 60 page resource (including cover pages, TOU and instructions) lots of activity pages for your learners which you can assign carefully according to ability, based on reading and writing skills Each page has jolly Christmas characters. We use their ‘cartes d’identité’ to discover lots about them and then use it as a basis for 1st person and/or 3rd person writing using personal information. Vocabulary is based on simple personal information but learners may need a little research on some items (e.g. beignets) Language covered: first name/last name/birthday (number/month)/where they live/siblings/pets/likes and dislikes This Distance Learning Pack can be used from home but equally would work well as printables for consolidation or revision of personal information. It could be used for cover lessons if you as the class teacher have already covered the basics. Alternatively, you as the teacher could print or assign sheets as bell tasks or homework. Answers are included The first 6 cards are in colour, then they are repeated in black and white. There are also A5 versions. You could print and laminate the A5 ones and use them as permanent resources and perhaps use them in conjunction with the question sheets. Further development: Once learners have filled in their own carte d’identité they could use 3rd person to write about a classmate.

French Easter Booklets

French Easter Booklets

(0)
Easter booklets for Years 7-11 Pâques This is a selection of booklets ranging from basic French Easter vocabulary matching, colouring and puzzles to higher level reading tasks further up the year groups. Each one has an accompanying answer booklet. Each booklet is usable as a stand-alone document for Easter activities. Alternatively, it could supplement your learning on Pâques. You can use each of the sheets independently as needed within your lessons or print as an A4 booklet ready for your learners to work through. The booklet begins with a cover page to colour in to help settle your group. In-built differentiation or challenge working through the Easter booklet means that all children should be able to access the learning independently, allowing you to help those who most need it. It would therefore also work well as a cover lesson. I would recommend black and white copies be lightened slightly as the coloured boxes can make the text a little harder to read than in colour. Year 7 Vocabulary: BASIC Joyeuses Pâques, C’est Pâques, un lapin, une cloche, un (grand) œuf, un panier, des chocolats, une croix, un agneau, des tulipes, un poussin, une église, des jonquilles, CHALLENGE un caneton, le soleil, l’herbe, les fleurs, les petits poussins, leurs vêtements, à votre choix, les coccinnelles, le champignon vénéneux, l’oiseau, le ciel, les feuilles. This booklet is intended for Year 7 learners and helps them develop basic knowledge of Easter vocabulary in French. For extension and challenge, you could: • Ask learners to write a paragraph about why they like or dislike Easter • Say what they receive at Easter, what they do and where they go • Prepare an Easter card for a friend, teacher or relative using their new vocabulary • Make an Easter board game • Write about why Easter is an important festival • Research the differences between Easter in their country and France and write a summary in English or the TL. Year 8 • English cultural reading compréhension • Vrai/faux • Word search Year 9 • French handwriting • Word puzzles/find the hidden messages Year 10* • Summarise French text in English • Board game • Recipe reading compréhension Year 11 • French quiz • Authentic resource reading comprehension If you find these resources helpful, I also have other Easter resources in French and Spanish you might like to look at: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/pascua-12103413 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/semana-santa-12104731 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/easter-and-year-7-basics-lesson-resources-11840423 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/semana-santa-juego-y-actividades-11847281 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/semana-santa-y-informaci-n-personal-juego-y-m-s-11847286 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-easter-lesson-with-a-twist-11840429

Year 7 First Spanish Lesson

Year 7 Spanish First Spanish Lesson Get to know your KS3 pupils. Do your pupils come from a variety of feeder primaries? This resource can help you to clarify level of MFL depending on which primary your intake is from. This is also a helpful resource if the timetable hasn’t started yet or your sets/groups are not sorted in the third week of term which happened to me one year and I had to cobble to something together for two weeks not knowing if the children would be in the group or not… There is room to put in the name of your school. For differentiation ideas, try putting anagrams of Spanish vocab’ on the board (or on certain tables if you know the ability…) or anagrams of famous Spanish speakers. Also see my free French version.

Marking targets for MFL

Marking targets for MFL

(1)
**Time saving codes for marking ** French, Spanish, Italian… Stick the A4 sheet into learners’ exercise books at the front or back. As you are marking, any common corrections and so on that they should complete have codes. You just need to write the code on the work. Learners then write out the relevant target(s) on their marked work - and complete them, of course… The language is described as the “Target Language” so that the sheet is appropriate for many languages.

Watching a French or Spanish film

A generic worksheet with boxes to fill in when pupils are watching a film. It’s generic so should go with any film! There are French and Spanish versions. Haven’t updated my cover image yet, apologies. Find: colours/words you know/words you heard but would like to understand/cognates/opinions etc. and a handy section to fill in how far into the film you’ve got so you can pick up next lesson.

A Tarsia puzzle. Search for Tarsia software so you can open it! Could be a good starter to check progress once vocab’ covered/basis for discussion of new vocabulary if introducing the vocabulary as new. Good for pairs to discuss language. Could set a time limit to create some competition! Contains vocab’ such as être/avoir/family members. The puzzle has to be cut out into triangles and then placed French to English to create a shape.
