Magic at Maths - Autumn Term Pack. With this termly pack you will receive 12 weeks of activities. Each week there are 5 activities. Note these are not inline with the new National Curriculum but still offer appropriate practice and revision. Our 'Magic at Maths' activity pack provides children with daily practice at a range of maths topics. Each terms pack comes with 12 weeks of activities with five activities per week all covering the KS2 mathematics curriculum. For example week 1 of the autumn pack includes: Addition Fractions of Numbers Measures Ordering Decimals Sequences. Each activity has at least three questions to answer all displayed on the same page. Therefore each page is only designed to take 5 minutes meaning these activities are perfect to complete at the beginning of a maths lesson, first thing in the morning or straight after lunch. Built up over the term it will really consolidate the mathematics skills of your class and is perfect for SATs revision. These activities are aimed at children in years 5/6 and can be completed on paper or in books.

This pack includes guided reading plans for the following text: Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo (Years 5/6) In total there are 8 guided reading lesson plans, covering each of the sections in the book. Each plan contains a 'reading and responding to the text' activity which is designed to be completed with the class teacher with the reading group. There are then follow up independent activities which the children can then complete during the remainder of the week. All of these activities are closely linked to the new National Curriculum objectives and these are listed at the beginning of each plan. Each plan also has a list of difficult words which the children can check the meaning of before the teacher led session, space to list the names of the children who are working on the text and a space for a teacher notes and evaluation. The plans have been written by an experienced primary school teacher and have been tried and tested in the classroom.

Perfect for plenaries and extension activities. The new National Curriculum is all about studying concepts in greater depth and applying knowledge and understanding to different areas of mathematics. The term 'mastery' is one that is being discussed widely in the educational word currently and this includes gaining a general agreed consensus of what it means to 'master' the curriculum. At the PTRC we have used the NAHT KPIs to come up with a variety of activities to help you assess whether children in your class have mastered the curriculum. Many of the activities require the children to explain their reasoning as well as apply their knowledge and skills across a range of topic areas. Included in this PowerPoint is 15 slides covering 15 of the key Year 3 learning objectives from the new National Curriculum (see pictures for example slides). The objectives are detailed in the notes section of each PowerPoint slide for easy reference. These A4 differentiated word vocabulary mats are an essential tool for any child and would be perfect laminated and stored in boxes in the middle of the table.
