Lesson objective: To solve problems involving the relative sizes of two quantities where missing values can be found by using integer multiplication and division facts.
In this lesson, students will be introduced to ratio and proportion and it will be explained that ratio shows the relative sizes of two or more values and proportion is a part, share, or number in relation to the whole.
Through an engaging powerpoint they will first learn how ratio and proportion are used in real-life contexts and will begin to write the ratio and proportion of shaded parts of shapes/ objects. They will have a go at differentiated questions before moving onto the differentiated activity sheets. 3 levels of challenge and provided along with the answer sheets.

At its height, the Roman Empire ruled over much of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. In this lesson, students will investigate how the Roman Empire finally fell. They will learn what an ‘empire’ is. How far the Roman Empire spread, where it covered at its peak and the events that led to its fall.
As an activity they will complete questions on the text read and plot the events of the fall on a timeline. They will also write a script to serve as the commentary to the video clip of Rome’s rise and fall.
This lesson is intended for KS2 students but can easily be modified to suit KS3.

Lesson objective: To generate and describe linear number sequences
In this lesson, students will be taught how to identify the rule of a number sequence. They will then complete a range of problems which require them to identify and generate their own number sequences by finding the rule in one and two-step equations.

This is an engaging lesson which comes with an interactive power point presentation and all corresponding activity worksheets. It is designed for Year 6 but could easily be modified to suit lower KS2 and KS3.
Free verse is an open form of poetry, which in its modern form arose through the French vers libre form. It does not use consistent metre patterns, rhyme, or any musical pattern. It thus tends to follow the rhythm of natural speech.
In this lesson, Children learn what free verse poetry is and how poems are structured. They look at example free verse poetry and identify repetition, rhythm, stanzas and how imagery is created. They then have a go writing their own free verse poem as a cold task based on an image using the scaffold provided.

In this lesson, students will learn what the metric and imperial units of measurement are and will relate these to objects in real life contexts. They will learn how to convert between the two and during the activity will practise this skill. They will also complete word problems and be encouraged to produce a poster as a help sheet for themselves.

In this lesson, students will work towards the objectives: To describe the movement of the Earth and other planets relative to the sun in the solar system and to describe the sun, Earth and moon as approximately spherical bodies.
They will first learn about how the Solar System formed before learning how we know that the planets are spherical. After this, they will be tasked to explain what they have learnt so far. Following this, they will learn about how the planets orbit the Sun and will be tasked to demonstrate this by creating a Solar System from toilet roll and fruit.

Persuasive Advertising is a type of product promotion that aims to persuade a consumer for buying a particular product.
In this lesson, students will learn the FREDEPTORS acronym for:
F- facts and font
R- repetition
E- exaggeration
D- description
E- emotive language
P- pictures
T- the rule of three
O- opinions
R- rhetorical questions
S- slogans
They will look at a range of persuasive adverts and will be challenged to decide how they are made persuasive to their audience. They will then try to sell an item themselves using these techniques using the activity sheet provided.
In this lesson, students will compare the lives of rich and poor Victorian children. They will learn what jobs poor Victorian children did through videos and reading and will undertake research on each of these: ideas will be given.
They will also learn about how the lives of Victorian children were changed as a result of the actions of Dr Barnardo and Lord Shaftesbury and will be tasked to write a persuasive letter to Queen Victoria arguing for the rights of Victorian children.

In this lesson, students will learn that there are three parts of the circulatory system: the heart, blood vessels and blood. They will learn details about the function of each and how they work together. Through a video and online resource, they can explore more and will be quizzed on the information they have learnt.
