There is a whole world out there to see, but travel is expensive, so this lesson looks at ways of seeing the world without breaking the bank, using skills and training young people might pick up on the way and alerts them to looking out for opportunities while students. This would go well as a follow-up to a presentation on Gap Years or a talk from a colleague about their travel experiences. Osteoporosis Week comes at the beginning of June, but this could be part of PHSE at any juncture. The lesson discusses what the condition is and how it can affect the body, but also looks at preventative members and poses the question of why young people should be thinking of this/be aware now. In many ways it contributes to supporting a healthy diet and exercise regime, also highlighting the contributing factors of alcohol and smoking, eating disorders and steroid tablets. We want our students to go out into the world and make healthy and informed choices.

It looks at what symptoms are involved, the value of support and sources of help. It also introduces the idea of the impact on the workplace and the value of support there, bearing in mind that students will be going into workplaces in the future, managing teams and being part of the decision-making, so gives the opportunity to discuss menopause policy in the workplace.
