In vivo cloning - complete lesson.
AQA A level Biology: 3.8.4.1 Recombinant DNA technology (part 2).
This is a complete lesson (second in series of 5) following AQA A Level Biology specification section “3.8.4 Gene technologies allow the study and alteration of gene function allowing a better understanding of organism function and the design of new industrial and medical processes”.
This resource covers the specification points on “In vivo cloning” from 3.8.4.1 Recombinant DNA technology.
The resource contains:
an interactive PowerPoint (47 slides)
2 worksheets
The PowerPoint contains the answers to all tasks.
This is aimed to be an easy to use resource, very straight forward with all answers to all questions (including exam style practice questions). Lots of opportunity to reinforce prior learning through a range of fun quizzes, team competitions and individual work.
This lesson will teach your students both content and skill enabling to perform well in their A level.

One last thing, if you use and enjoy my resource, I’d be grateful if you could please try to leave a positive review!
Respiration full set of lessons that teach all the content from AQA specification Unit 4 Bioenergetics, 4.4.2 Respiration.
Each lesson should take about 1hour to teach, but you can easily adapt them to your own lesson timings.
Aerobic respiration
Aerobic respiration (& the effect of exercise)
Anaerobic respiration in yeast & plants
Metabolism
Using a detailed and engaging PowerPoint the students work their way through the content with a range of whole class quizzes, paired and individual activities. The lessons are well structured and include differentiated activities. Worksheets are included for students to complete (all answers are present on the PowerPoint) with a variety of activities such as labelling diagrams and answering exam style questions (plus exam tips from an experienced exam board assessor).
The lessons are self-explanatory in that you can simply click through, and it flows through the content. I use them in my own teaching and my students really enjoy them.

Biology Paper 1 revision.
A selection of revision resources covering AQA Biology:
Unit 1 Cell biology
Unit 2 Organisation
Unit 3 Infection & response
Unit 4 Bioenergetics
Includes:
5 sets of Q&A cards (72 in total) for independent/group activities, 2 PowerPoint based class quizzes, a (very) detailed mindmap (with helpful suggestions on how to use it) complete lesson on aerobic respiration to use for recap and a cell biology quiz plenary activity.
The cards are designed to print, cut and go, you are welcome to give these to students for them to use outside of the classroom for independent revision. I tend to give them to my students for this purpose and they love them!
Each quiz can take quite a good portion of a lesson (40mins to answer in teams and go through the answers) to get through, it took my class a little longer than I expected but again the students really enjoyed the format of it and the team challenge element.
The mindmap covers the whole of infection & response including the biology only content as a seperate map.
The aerobic respiration lesson can be used to recap skills as well as content.
I hope you find the range of activities engages and supports your students in their revision, good luck for the 10th May!
As always please email me at shropshirescienceteacher@gmail.com with any queries, and I’m always grateful for postive reviews!

Each lesson should take about 1hour to teach, but you can easily adapt them to your own lesson timings.
Making DNA fragments
In vivo gene
In vitro gene cloning & polymerase chain reaction.
Locating genes, genetic screening, and counselling
Genetic fingerprinting
