WS 3.1 – present a graph of light intensity against rate of photosynthesis.

MS 1a, 1c – measure and understand the rate of photosynthesis reactions.
MS 4a, 4c – plot and draw appropriate graphs of rate of photosynthesis against light intensity selecting appropriate scale for axes.
This lesson is not supposed to be a replacement for the required practical but works equally well hand in hand with it as a follow up or could be used in conjunction with one of the recorded demonstrations available on YouTube in order for you to be able to cover all the necessary content with your students. A key theme to all my lessons is to encourage students to practise essential exam skills with many helpful tips scattered through each unit of work.

This fun and informative complete lesson covers all content from AQA specification content on ‘anaerobic respiration in yeast and plants’.
Using a detailed and engaging PowerPoint the students work their way through the content with a range of whole class quizzes, paired and individual activities. The range of challenges encourage students to learn new key words, and recall prior content (research shows recall activities helps children to remember so I try to include these in most of my lessons). The lesson structure challenges students to apply their new knowledge to exam style questions whilst also giving them expert exam tips.
Included in the PowerPoint & worksheet (with all answers) are the following activities:

Infection & response
This revision/plenary resource covers the complete specification for AQA Combined Science & triple Biology unit 4.3 Infection &response.
Updated to include fully editable final slide!
The PowerPoint contains an intricate mindmap that encourages students to develop links within this topic; which teaches about communicable disease, pathogens, defense systems, vaccination, drug discovery & development, BIOLOGY ONLY monoclonal antibodies, and plant disease; helping them to gain a greater depth of understanding of the unit.
To use this resource, print out any of the slides (best on A3) then students can use their own notes/textbooks to fill in the bubbles and make the links. Can be used as a timed team game – allow each member of the team 1 minute to view the complete version then they race to fill in as much of their copy in 2 minutes as they can remember, repeat for each team member. Then ask the team to reflect on their mindmap and fill in any gaps using their own knowledge. It also works well as an individual task for a quiet summary/revision activity.
For students that find it overwhelming to view the whole sheet I suggest covering half with plain paper and working on a section at a time to gradually build up the full picture.
