Are you looking for Christmas and New Year lesson plans and activities for your ESL students? Look no further, we have all bases covered! This bundle includes Christmas vocabulary, exercises and activities as well as taking a look at popular New Year resolutions and the Chinese Zodiac for 2020.
As we approach the end of 2019 we also say goodbye to the decade that was the 2010’s. Take your students on a journey back through the past ten years as we review the biggest stories and events from the tens. We’ll also take a look ahead to 2020 and discuss the stories that will be big news in the year ahead.
What’s included in the Christmas bumper pack:
5 Christmas vocabulary exercises to introduce festive words and their significance to your students.
6 Christmas activities to encourage student interaction and expression. They include writing a letter to Santa, discussing favorite Christmas destinations, sentence building with demands and if you’re feeling brave there’s even a little bit of singing and dancing.

1 Write-up about ‘Christmas Around The World’ as we take a look at how and when a variety of countries celebrate Christmas. Includes comprehension questions and 15 conversation cues.

1 New Year Resolutions activity as the class discuss popular resolutions and list their own personal favorites.
1 Write-up about the 2020 Chinese Zodiac and the year of the rat with exercises and conversation questions.
What’s included in the Review Of The 2010’s:
In part 1 there are a number of exercises within one main activity. There are a selection of photos of events from one of the years. The students try to guess what news story each photo is referring to. Then they read the review of the stories before trying to guess the year. There are ten of these in total to represent each of the years from the decade.
Exercises on past simple regular and irregular, superlatives, connecting words, synonyms, antonyms, was/were and many more.
The first part finishes with 20 conversation questions to encourage a group discussion about the 2010’s.
Part 2 starts with a look into the events coming up in 2020 with topics including politics, technology, sport and film. They include future exercises and language.
The second part concludes with ten conversation questions about the year ahead.
Review Of The 2010's
As we near the end of 2019 we also say goodbye to the 2010’s. Take a stroll back through the good, the bad and the ugly of the decade with this comprehensive review of the biggest news stories from around the world.
We also take a look forward to 2020 and discuss the most anticipated events that will see us enter the new decade.
I have added two levels so that this one item can cover all ESL learners. The first pack is aimed at beginners to pre-intermediate (A1-A2) learners and the second is for intermediate (B1+) and higher students.
In the preview you will find the entire product for the intermediate+ level students.
In part 1 there are a number of exercises within one main activity. There are a selection of photos of events from one of the years.
