This is a resource which gives situations that can be used to help pupils with understanding of different ethical theories (applied to these).

This resource has proved really useful to my pupils who have been struggling to apply the secondary precepts of Natural law theory. I have included ethical scenarios as well as tasks set to get the pupils to apply the precepts and come to a pragmatic conclusion in light of the examples.

This is a lesson on homosexuality that was designed for Y11, but can be used for A level. The provocative images on the front are meant to set the scene for the focus of the lesson: Should homosexuality be an ethical issue or not? I also discuss the media's role in this discussion with use of the images.

It is sometimes hard to assess the success of the hedonic calculus. For years my colleagues and I found it hard to get pupils to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of the hedonic calculus. This resource aims to change this. Pupils are given the worksheet in order to see how simple, yet how time consuming and contradictory this theory is. It works a treat - especially for homework. Great for A02 focus.

This lesson was designed as a one stop, task driven lesson. See below for a brief plan of the lesson. The resources include a PPT as well as Hindu and Muslim information sheet. The PPT should be worked through, but the main task is the pupils will be given a set of information and will have to work through the reading and highlight important points. They will note these down and teach them to others on the table. The teacher will then go over this at the end to assess learning.

This incredibly well used resource is a fantastic way for budding ethicists to understand the major factors underpinning ethical theory. The PPT tells the story of Abi and Joe (in an interactive manner!). Abi, driven by acts surrounding motive and not rule or consequence ends up falling into trouble and other characters act in seemingly contentious ways because of their focus of moral thinking. In the time I have been teaching this, teachers, parents and pupils have commented on it's clarity and usefulness. I hope you agree!

A very brief list of strengths and weaknesses of natural moral law.

This lesson is designed for a short look at the concept of violence and can be used alongside my other lesson on 'what makes people go wrong?'. This has been a helpful lesson over the years and stimulates creative ideas from pupils as it is aimed for this function.

This meditation activity is excellent alongside lessons on Buddhism, peace or pacifism and on spirituality. The resource attached includes a step by step narration of the exercise and always works fantastically. Highly recommended by colleagues who have used it!
