This could run over 2-3 lessons. Students focus on annotating the booklet - use the question sheet to help prompt discussion. Other activities to help approach the booklet includes paired and group work. This DME is based on the SAMs but with a Rio focus with information taken from Simon Ross textbook. Includes SAMs mark scheme and sentence starters for students. No other resources required. Enjoy. (I have a copy of the booklet in Spanish if anyone requires - if you have purchased this resource, please message me for a free copy).

Volcanic hazards. Give students a copy of the diagram and get them to annotate. Hazards on powerpoint diagram are hyperlinked. Use geo factsheet to add further details. Amazing Pompeii animation at end to check understanding by spotting the hazards. Homework is to look at different types of volcanoes.

Good as a first lesson to see what they know or a revision lesson. The lesson is essentially the challenge which runs all lesson. Photocopy the challenge and the points sheet. Do not read through with class, let them crack on with it. Where it says choose appropriate map, have A3 photocopies of American and European world maps to choose from. Follow up with WWW/EBI (or NDT). Homework to annotate proper copies of tectonic maps.

A variety of lesson activities including maps from memory, group work, diamond 9 exercise, class discussions, practice questions, homework ideas. Main text for these lessons to work: Simon Ross - Oxford - GCSE book needed to accompany these lessons - Chapter 13. Please refer to my SoW resource on here too. ***Lesson 4b - Land uses in Rio is a map from memory activity, the map needs photocopying straight from the page in the textbook (detailed on powerpoint) but this is not on the powerpoint as I have no scanning facilities!

Just some different things to try if your brain has shutdown. Some old favourites in here but it might give you one or two ideas to try. If you want any more details about some of these ideas (like where to get the resources) and/or how I use them, please contact me. Can of course be adapted for other Key Stages.

*This is not examiner endorsed/approved* When going through a recent practice exam with yr10, these are the notes I made on the different types of question that came up. This is so they can approach another exam paper in the same way using the same crib sheet. There are examples of poor and good answers on there and general advice. This is a working document and there are some types of questions which have not been covered such as 'Compare'.

After discussing the reasons, this task (which has higher- and lower-attaining student versions) can be used to help students explain. The task is to help students practice clear explanations in their geography writing. This template could be applied to other topics.

I used a triple lesson to do this on one day. Students split into 4 groups as shown on the plan - 2 hours to prepare their exhibits - suggestions on the sheets. I prepared each group with a pack of information and other useful information sheets to help them with their topic. In the third lesson, staff came round to experience their museum and we turned up heating, sprayed them with water and played sounds. The powerpoint is what they viewed first before touring the 'museum&'.

L4 - need Blue Planet DVD L5 - exam practice L6 - start to look at 3 main case studies for development L7 - Conflict in Alaska L8 - requires internet research Thanks to producers of linked material. (Orange book is Raw - Philip Allan textbook, yellow/blue book is Dove et al - OCR textbook)

Lots of videos and links to relevant articles - this is my last lesson of Rivers topic for OCR 'B&' F761. Please use and abuse and if you make a better lesson, maybe using some of this one, let me have it! Get your students to &';like' the Somerset Floods facebook page too - so much info on this that might help them to engage more with it as it&'s facebook.
