Complete set of lessons linked to the new Edexcel GCSE specification for The American West. Each lesson has a specific PPT and a series of interactive, engaging and differentiated worksheets that require the students to do the work. That’s a total of 9 PPTs, linked to the chapter headings for the Pearson textbook. However, both the Pearson and Hodder textbooks were used when creating these resources. Neither textbook is necessary for these tasks as all content is included. Our lessons are carefully planned to ensure that all relevant content is covered to ensure a level 9 is attainable. Each task has different levels of difficulty, with unfinished tasks a perfect opportunity for feedback or homework. There is a glossary of key terms for students to complete as they progress through the course, along with an exam guide on how to answer questions for Paper 2, Section A. This lesson looks at the appointment of Gorbachev and the reasons for why he wanted to reform the Soviet Union. It then goes on to examine the events that led to the loss of Soviet control in Eastern Europe, the end of the Warsaw Pact and the fall of Gorbachev. There is exam practice and excellent student activities to complete.

Component 1: UK Politics - Democracy and Participation Detailed lesson on the current systems of representative and direct democracy in the UK. The lesson also looks at participation in politics and whether there is a democratic deficit in the UK. This lesson has been planned for the new Edexcel specification. It includes an exam guide on how to answer questions in the A-Level exam, case studies that link to the content and activities that encourages student-led learning. There is a flipped learning task on the franchise, it’s history and whether it should be extended to 16 year old’s. The Knowledge House produce outstanding lessons for the new specification by using content from the three approved textbooks from Hodder and Edexcel. However, you will not need the textbooks for these lessons.
