Early Years / Year 1 / Year 2 / Foundation Phase Children have circle time to discuss what they are grateful for. Children draw a picture in the circle, then write a sentence about what they are grateful for below. To differentiate: Lower - staff write what children are grateful for Middle - children dictate sentence. Staff write sentence in yellow pen then children write over yellow felt pen Top - children copy from a model, or write independently. Editable Word document and PDF copies are included.

Design your own puppet - Early Years - Reception During our topic of fairytales, the children designed their own puppet. The children will write the name of their puppet. Then colour in the splodge to show the colour of the material that they will use. Then they circle the materials that they will use. In the last box, they will draw and label their puppet.

During subtraction week, we carried out 3 activities. We used the ‘Playdough Smash’ laminated sheet to make blobs of playdough up to 10. Then we used whiteboard pens to write subtraction number sentences. When children took numbers away, they smashed the playdough then counted to see how many were left. We used the purse and the 10 frame to pay for items in the shop. We started with 10p (1p in each square) the we took pennies away to find out how much we had left. We used the differentiated worksheets to cross out the objects to see how many were left.

Reception Report Writing We looked at the features of report writing. Then we read a report about chickens/chicks, including the life cycle of a chicken, as we had chicks in Nursery. Our topic was 'mini beasts', we we wrote a report about butterflies. We had caterpillars/butterflies in class. The children had observed the full life cycle of a butterfly. This was an end of year task. Children write about what they have enjoyed, their favourite memory, what they are good at, what they need to get better and what they want to be when they are older. They also draw a picture of themselves.

We talked about valuing the achievements of our peers as well as our own. We held a circle time and complimented the person sat next to us. We then completed the worksheet. Lower - drew pictures of what they were good at (football, writing etc) Middle - wrote key words independently Top - printed it out as A3 - drew lines to write full sentences on.
